i bought my car in december 2023. i5 M40

yesterday my friend bought the same car and the connected drive is already installed, it will be activated within two months ( dealer said )

so i have the following issues, if anybody can advise, i will be happy. thanks,

1- dealer said the "hardware" is not exist on my car. is there "really" hardware ? if yes where ?

2- as far as i understood, there should be an "eSIM" in the car. can i see if its already in ? so i can understand that it's exits but un activated...

3-how can i see that my car contains the connected driver equipment or not ?

4- Is there a way to buy / activate/install/ the connected drive for my car ?

Connected Drive Store is a website. It’s where you go to buy options for your car. In the MyBMW app, press the icon that looks like a floppy disk to access the store.

An eSIM must be activated at a mobile phone provider, at least in the US.

without eSIM, you can still control your car by your phone.
so there must be another built-in eSIM, which is different from the "e-SIM" option.

maybe it's just 2G or 3G.

Mmm that doesn’t sound right to me, my connected drive account was active on the day I picked up my g30. I ordered the speed camera app via it on the day I picked up my car and had the app the following day.

When you say “Connected Drive” do you mean one of the apps in the connected drive store, like the second screen shot below? Some software will require hardware added during the build to work, if you can clarify what part of teh Connected Drive store you’re asking about, we can probably provide better help.

Check and see if you have option 6PA (Personal E-Sim 5G) on your build sheet. I believe they all come with an e-sim and the SIM number should be in your paperwork. I'm not sure if it is in the owners manual or somewhere else on the vehicle, like the glove box or someplace in the computer, like where the VIN number is. You have to have something that states the eSIM number you can provide to your wireless company to add to your account.

No eSIM number is needed at least in the U.S. Setup is all through the myBMW app.

Every car has one SIM card. With personal ESIM option the car has a second SIM card specifically for ESIM use for phone capabilities

BMW should file to FCC for all the wireless it got.
But I didn't find it on FCC web site.

thanks for all replies, actuall maybe i made a mistake about explanation.
the issue here is not related with application. i already has the acount for BMW prime and My BMW, but the connected drive ( which let us monitor the car remotely, or live traffic info, etc) is not seeing in my car, but can seeing in my friend/s "same" car.

AiredaleDad 6PA is not showing in my car paperwork. Is there a way to understand that i have an Esim ?


my qustion was,

IS, this tool or program or sw, whatever was NOT active in my car and can be activated ??
OR, this is a factory production issue, so if there is no hw or sw installaed , so i shoul forget to use the Connected driver from now on ?

( i check the papers, there is no 6PA

So attached is my Build Sheet received from BMW when they assigned an order number. If you look around the middle of page 3 you will see 6PA. If your build sheet doesn't have this, then it was not included in your build.

Its an ESIM. If you have the ESIM option ordered for your vehicle then you have a second ESIM.

Are you sure your privacy settings are set correctly to see the interior view? You should review all your privacy settings in the vehicle and enable all.

I agree with what others have said. Check to see if all your privacy settings in the car are set to the most liberal/permissive option. This is not the default setting and needs to be adjusted to allow remote camera view. The eSim has nothing to do with this functionality.

yes you are right, i dont have 6PA and teleservice, live map, etc. so my question is, is it possible to buy / add this function separetely ? ( my car is idrive 8,5 )

also when i download and try to setup my bmw app, after i write the S/n of the car , than the app says "show the qr code to the camera, where is located right top corner under BMW id , but i dont have this menu also....
