aapriadi - you have my deepest condolences
Go for all the options - chemotherapy included...I don't know what kind of cancer your dad has been diagnosed with (if possible) and thus it's hard to say at what stage he is placed in. My advice - keep your hopes up high and talk with your dad. I'm not referring to chit-chat. I'm talking about deep talk - say the things you need to say. Stay strong and stay on your feet.

thanks everyone for the support..unfortunately the doctors dont know which type of cancer my dad has nor the stage he's in, they have to remove the lump first and then examine it..problem is the lump is stuck on the nerves right below his ear and even after this lump is removed, other lumps will just appear randomly after some time..do we have someone in a medical profession here?
my parents live in indonesia, about 20 hours of flight away to america the only way i can talk to him is through phone conversations, i hope i can find a good ENT hospital and persuade him to come for his treatment this whole thing is killing me inside

I'm sorry to hear that. I hope he is able to get the care he needs.
You should look into The Cleveland Clinic for evaluation.

MD Anderson - here in Houston TX is one of the best cancer treatment centers in the world. For all types of cancer, not just Ear Nose and Throat. I don't have a specialist's name that I can recommend, but you can check them out and see if there are any referrals.
Best wishes and prayers for you and for your father's health.

I hear nothing beats the Sloan-Kettering cancer institute in Manhattan, NY. You should give them a try. Hope all goes well.

Well....if you are going to consider other states...you have to look into Dana Farber Cancer Institute....its in Boston, MA.

From the other scientists and doctors I've ever conferred with, Sloan Kettering is regarded as the best cancer institute in the country. Hell, it was even featured in The Sopranos when Uncle Junior was diagnosed with cancer.
Medical centers are fine but they are usually not as great as health institutions that specialize primarily in cancer...and there are obviously a lot of cancer centers. Here's a link to the top 10 cancer centers in the country (and is it not surprising that Sloan-Kettering tops the list?): http://www.cancerlinksusa.com/centers.htm 1) Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York, New York 2) University of Texas, M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas 3) Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland 4) Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn. 5) Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, Mass 6) Duke University Medical Center, Durham, N.C. 7) Stanford University Hospital, Stanford, Calif. 8) University of Washington Medical Center, Seattle, Wash. 9) University of Chicago Hospitals, Chicago, Illi. 10) UCLA Medical Center, Los Angeles, Calif. 11) Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Buffalo, New York This list isn't to say that #11 is a poor place for a cancer patient - they are all extremely competitive and all are on cutting edge of cancer technology/advents. In fact, nearly all of those places teach their PhD/MD students with a narrowed focus on cancer. I've been to Roswell Park for PhD interviews and it's a great place but I'd follow that list more closely as I haven't been to most of the others.
