Unhappy Old Civic vs. 4x4

This is one reason I'm not too hip on driving an old car as a daily driver. I'm not saying a late model car wouldn't get torn up in this crash, but I can't imagine it being half as bad as this. This video is terrifying...

I agree--I will not drive anything as a DD that hasn't been crash tested, and received at least good modern ratings. It's too much of a risk.

Now, 60mph is VERY fast, and I'm not sure that would have come out very well for a modern car as well. Certainly better. And the new IIHS side impact tests simulate a SUV bumper, so are more representative of the possible crashes we all face at junctions.

Car safety really has improved in the last 15 years, it's not worth risking.

I very nearly bought a clean Gen 1 MR2 recently... But with no plans to do a full season of track racing, and a kid on the way, it just didn't make any sense unless I was to tuck it away. Not worth it at this time.
