In a move to consolidate to one vehicle I decided to put my Exige up for sale. Well after 2 months someone finally pulled the trigger. I've been on the waiting list for the 135i for weeks so that will be my replacement. I feel like it's the end of an era...:frown:

So would I but as I said, I need something more practical. An Exige requires that I own a second vehicle. My current place only has 2 spaces (one for me, one for the girl) so I can't even keep the Lotus there. It became pointless. Try driving a Lotus around Brooklyn for a day and you'll immediately understand.

KoJ - there are more than a few Europas in the ATR collection and a handful of Elises - one of the guys with a Europa (powered by a 170+ HP Zetec :-) climbed into an Elise for a quick spin this weekend and said the Elise was harder to get into and out of than the Europa! Yikes!!

I'm pretty limber and I had a hard time getting out (read: falling) out of the Elise.

Sad, though. I predict you'll wax lyrical about that car for many years, and wish you never sold it. Circumstances (read: garage space!) change quite quickly. Somehow, whenever I've made a decision with my head instead of my heart... I've regretted it heavily. But I'm a certified car nut, don't listen to me

Well I've owned about a dozen cars in my life (I'm only 26) so I have a serious problem with cars as well. There are many factors in my selling the car, the majority having to do with the car's shortcomings, not so much the logistics that I mentioned before. For example... I can't park it anywhere because a door ding or a bump from a parallel parking car can cause $5,000+. The car made me a very nervous person. The thing about cars is that you can always get another one and if you have the means you can certainly replace them when necessary.

As for actually driving the car and ingress/egress... Yes, the first time I sat in the car I had to kind of fall out of it but after 3 or 4 times it becomes second nature and you can look pretty smooth doing so. People need to realize that Cadillacs are easy to get into and out of... if that's why you bought a car then you simply didn't do your research. You don't sit in a Lotus... you put it on.

i understand its a hard car to mantain 2 seats and it needs a garage. but i thought that you were gonna keep the altima too so exige wouldnt be too much of a problem

dude, 2 parking spaces... 3 cars... 0 garages... do the math. The lease is up in July for the Altima so I can take my time waiting for the 1 and just trade it in or terminate the lease a little early when it gets here.

Hey its cool that your mature enough to let a car go. Especially one like that. You actually just inspired me to let go of my s2k. I had plans to keep my Honda and get the 135i as a DD. At 22, it would be pretty hard to pull that off. At least we can both say, "Been there, drove that" and like you said if its meant to be we could always get another. :biggrin:

If something ceases to be a pleasure, it's definitely time to make it go away. Makes good sense.

I'm not one to keep a car long, either, so I know the shuffle well. It's a learning experience, and lots of fun any way you stack it. You've got the right attitude. It's just a car, after all.

You'll still miss it, after the 135 settles in and gets a little boring :wink:

Certainly understand your position. I have had 3 cars in the last 4 years and while I have enjoyed all of them for a certain period of time, there are stresses and aggravations that I would rather not live with. Like you said, if you have the means you can replace them and I am much happier because of it.

BTW, do you like the SE-R? When that first came out I thought it was going to be a big hit but it didnt seem to light the streets ablaze but it didnt (though, that could just be because of allocation).
