Is it effective, and if so, for how long?

Is it worth $500 to have this professionally done?

1. Yes, it's effective in making the wheels more hydrophobic and easier to clean.
2. Depends on how it is applied and allowed to dry. It'll last 6 months to 2 years for the same product.
3. What something is worth depends on who is paying for it. I do it myself on all my wheels, and I'm a neat freak, so it's easily worth it to me.

I use ArmorAll brake dust repellent to protect wheels from brake dust, just spray on wheels and leave it for an hour to set.

Definitely worth it!
It is easily DIY especially if the wheels are brand new.
The most important thing is the prep.
$500 sounds about right. You could diy if you have time, probably take 4-6 hours and $100-$150 for materials.

I just did it on my brand new 351m wheels.

I did two coats on the faces and up over the lip, had the tires mounted and balanced, then coated the barrels. If you do the barrels first the weights won't stick to them.

If you look at esoteric car Care on YouTube there's a bunch of videos about it there's one that's 45 minutes long or they go over the whole thing and he does the brake calipers which is a great idea, I really wish I would have did mine when they were new. He did one coat of the geon rim stuff underneath as it's higher temp and then a coat of the Kamikaze which is a nicer product.

Looking forward to just quickly spraying these off and then spraying them dry. That will be nice. I hope it lasts longer than a year

just buy a bottle of gyeon wetcoat and apply once a month during your washes. its simple as spraying onto wheels and hosing off- zero drama.

Not worth it in my opinion. It'll be mitigated by the heat and brake dust, and the vigorous abrasion when we clean the wheels with towel/sponge/brush.

If you have some left over ceramic, then whatever, but I def would not go and buy a $50-100 product just for the wheels. Just hit them with a spray wax or polymer like beadmaker or a sio2 spray after your wash.

Ceramic coating the wheels keeps them cleaner and easier to clean. Totes worth it. Go through those touches washes with and without your car/wheels ceramic coated and you will understand.

i've done it with a few sets and only do the inner barrels now. if you wash your car frequent enough i don't see a point in doing it on the spokes.

Would definitely recommend coating on wheels. Would not pay $500 for it to be done.

I did 3 coats myself and I think it’s totally worth it. I bought 3 of the $15 bottles on Amazon and applied it in my living room after new wheels were delivered. The silver wheels only require a a bit of wheel cleaning spray on a microfiber once a month and they are perfect again. Very little effort as brake dust / dirt doesn’t seem to stick at all.

I don't plan on having to use any abrasion certainly not vigorous abrasion. That's the whole point no abrasion required just f****** spray and blow dry

It's worth it. It's not worth $500 bucks. I'll do it for $400. Seriously there's a lot of good product out there and a ton of YouTube video's showing you how to do it. It's not that hard and it makes washing wheels a soap and water exercise.

I don't think it's worth it. Still need mild agitation to remove brake dust, the same as it was before for me.

With the right product, it's worth it to do it yourself. It's really not difficult, and frankly you will put more energy into doing it perfectly than someone being paid to crank several out in a day.

Get yourself some DLUX or equivalent, prep with iron remover and a prep spray and go to town!

Nice wheel stand. I made one myself with a piece of plywood, cut 2x4 underneath for stability, and two bathroom towel bars from home Depot for about 20 bucks each.

I taped microfiber towels over top of the the rods and the towels spin real nice.

A lot of people use the little motorcycle wheel stand from harbor freight. I went out and got that but it's really stupid as it's only about 7 in wide and so one side of the wheel hangs off the edge and it doesn't spin. Nope

I had it done along with full front PPF and ceramic. Huge difference in ease of cleaning and wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

While this is true, a $10 bottle of good sealant will perform just as well on the cleaning ease front, but won't stop chips obviously so anyone who does a lot of sand freeway driving needs the ppf
