Help me build a new desktop

Primary use is to run business app's along with multimedia app's. What are some of the best components out there? So far, I've settled on the AMD 3800FX chip and Antec P180 case. What are some good recommendations for a motherboard and video card. My budget is around $2k. Thanks!

YES!!!!!

Just last week install Windows Vista just for fun. No Problem - Run great...

But again - everyone entitle for personal opinion. If one person prefer tower - go get tower. My next PC will be small factor again. I have in my house 2 laptops, 2 tower PC and one shuttle - last one is my favorite.

I like that shuttle thing. I've been looking for a compact desktop. I dislike the huge tower desktops.

I play CS:S occasionally, and it runs well on my GeForce MX440 from like five years ago.

You know, I just check shuttle web site - can't found a good foto of my PC. It's light blue one. From 2003, when I get one upgardes made:
from CD-RW to CD-RW/DVD (Sony) to DVD-RW (Plextor's black PX-740UF )
Memory from 512 - to 1.5Gb
Video Card from ATI 9600Pro to ATI 9800 ALL-IN-WONDER 128MB
I can't count HD - I have 3or 4 and I constaly rotated with different upgrdes.
FROM WINDOWS 2000 TO Windows XP Pro SP1
From Windows XP Pro SP2 to Windows Media 2005 SP1
From Windows XP SP2 to Windows Vista Beta.
Never get disapointed in performance of this small PC.

Do you have any issues with cooling? How many fans are in your's? Ideally, I'd also like to setup Raid 5, so I'll need at a minimum 3 hd's.

cooling is good...one main fan in the rear, but they have a heat-sinker for the cpu that is really good. also a mini fan for the power supply. Many gamers (games makes the cpu really hot) use XPC and none have prblms.
3 HDs...might not fit in these lil boxes; I use external drive

I have been building my own computers for about 6 years.

I always use Asus motherboards. I have yet to have a problem with one of them. Usually its some other smaller part that goes out first.

Here is my current system (built about 1 year ago):
Asus A8N-SLI motherboard Socket 939
AMD Athlon64 4000+ cpu
2GB PC3200 DDR SDRAM
128mb graphics card (Radeon, can't remember the specific number)
Western Digital 250gb HD (SATA 3.0 Gb/s)
NEC 16X DVD burner (2 drives)
Coolermaster Cavalier case
Samsung 19inch LCD monitor (with DVI)
Logitec Keyboard and Wireless mouse

This whole system cost about $1300 a year ago. With a budget of $2000, you should be able to do even better. I have been using a set of electrostatic speakers for the past few years, so I didn't include that in my budget. I estimate this system should last me at least 4 years.

Be sure to get a front and rear fan (with filters) and a good cpu heatsink/fan. Most of the time my cpu temp is no higher than the motherboard temp (and often it is 1-2 deg C lower than the mb temp). I use fairly large fans with slow speeds for a virtually silent system.
