The GT looks thick and beefy like the current M steering wheels. I would probably pick that but being a Porsche that means adding more P-tax and it depends on your tolerance for watching that base price inflate massively as you tick the boxes that you would ideally want in your new Porsche.

The bolstering is so much nicer on the GT wheel (tested both). I would go for it 10/10 times.

They drive totally differently. SQ5 uses a FWD biased AWD system while the Macan S uses a RWD biased system.
EDIT: I had bad info. The SQ5 is in fact rear biased with a 40/60 split

This is not true. There is also a common confusion about this among Audi fans, but SQ5 (unlike the Q5) actually uses a 40/60 RWD-biased setup that can send up to 85% of torque to the rear. There is also a sport diff for the rear axle to favor one of the two rear wheels.

Is this a joke? When they said that all Porsches looked the same, I didn't think they meant their steering wheels too?!
![]() EDIT: I had to squint, but if they have the same ftns, I'd just go w Standard. GT w the screws/rivets thing and that 'fake' centre marker, not to my tastes, *and* you gotta pay extra for that? Naw.

I will say though "buy an SQ5" isn't really a fair comment. They feel very different and the new Macan S gets the detuned 2.9 twin turbo V6 from the upper Audi and Porsche lineup (much better engine in my opinion vs the SQ5's 3L twin scroll turbo). The Macan also handles much better/smaller for what it is. Now if money is a concern, of course go with the SQ5, but then you really need to be considering the X3 m40i in my opinion.

I was referencing this video: @4:23 he talks about comparing the awd systems for the sq5 and macan, but I guess he's inaccurate. I didn't bother to check him because I assumed Jason Cammisa knew his shit. Which he does but I guess he's not immune to mistakes ![]()

That's why I said, if money is of concern go with the SQ5 over a Macan for sure (but again, I would get an X3 m40i over an SQ5 at that price point). You are paying the P Tax 100% but it is a better car in almost every performance respect compared to the SQ5 (money aside).

Get it. I have it on my 911 and cayenne. The chunkier feeling is nice.

I have the GT sport steering wheel in my 718 and I love it. Though my wheel is not thick at all, thinner than the M cars I have had. Perhaps the newest wheels are a bit thicker. I thought the primary benefit of the GT sport steering wheel was a slightly smaller diameter compared to the standard wheel.

Not sure if there is a physical size and feel difference but looks wise, I prefer the chrome look as it gives more contrast. The GT one just kind of all blends together.
In regard to the QS5 the price difference becomes significantly less when you are looking at CPO models. I recently purchased a CPO 2019 Cayenne, but actually started looking at Macans and I considered the SQ5 for about a minute until I started looking at prices and the difference wasn't that big. Plus, I preferred the look of the Macan. It's actually the only SUV that got me to even consider owning an SUV. If I was buying new though and just wanted a nice SUV the SQ5 would be a solid choice or even a regular Q5. A new Macan wouldn't have even been under consideration due to price. I mean the Cayenne I ended up getting I believe if you were to build that right now for a 2022 or whatever model comes out to over $90k. Doesn't even have adaptive cruise control. If you get a totally base one with no premium package, I believe you don't even get keyless entry, no blind spot monitor, no heated seats, no sunroof and it's still like $70k... I had a 2020 base Corolla that had all of that standard and LED headlight for like $18k out the door. So yeah.... I don't think anyone is buying a Porsche because of the great value. ![]() |

I like it, very industrial design aesthetic.
