Drivers Republic GT2 v GTR around the Nurburgring
Drivers Republic GT2 v GTR around the Nurburgring
GT2 - 7:49 GTR - 7:55.9 "so we left the Ring on the close of the second day, the GT2 was the daddy" PORSCHE GT2 “Given the times we set were both some-way off the manufacturers’ claims, how do we feel about those claims? Well, Walter’s time is 17-seconds faster than this, and having experienced the GT2 at full-afterburner, I have no doubt that the car will achieve that time. I could show you where I’ve lost five seconds on just a handful of sections. NISSAN GTR “could the Nissan really go 27-seconds faster? I just don’t know…but I just don’t see where another 27-seconds comes from with the car I drove. I felt that I came much closer to extracting the maximum performance of the Nissan on this single-flying-lap challenge than I did the Porsche. FINAL “But be in no doubt, when we left the Ring on the close of the second day, the GT2 was the daddy. We did the times and the Porsche won.” http://magazines.drivers-republic.co...c/thetruth030/ |

That GT2 is just something else huh? Regardless of what time the GT-R can put down, I'm one of those that will never purchase one. The GT2 however...now there's a completely different story.

+1 and +1 to the comment above me nissan really made a great car and wants people to just stare at it. If the car had the support of a p car or bmw i would be all over it. So yea here a tt 400+hp car now dont launch it or turn TC off just drive it normal under 3krpms and dont do anything that could break it because then you gotta pay hahaha.

Porsche and the Porsche apologist fanbois crack me up. And I've owned 3 Porsches and grew up a Porschefile.
The GT-R costs $75K and quite simply smokes both the ~$120K Turbo and ~$120K GT3. So Porsche gets wind of this and says to the apologist press and fanbois, oh yeah, what about our $190K GT2. WTF? The sad thing is Porsche does have a platform capable of competing with the GT-R without cheating...the Cayman. Throw in the GT3 engine and a few GT3 handling bits along with DPK and LSD and they have a sub-$100K GT-R killer. Call it the Cayman GT3. Add GT2 engine at $120K they have a world beater. But as long as the press and fanbois let them get away with their GT-R bashing in a platform 2 1/2 times the cost, it won't happen. As long as Porsche "purists" continue to insist the inferior rear engine platform is the platform of choice, despite that fact that Porsche made their racing name with mid-engined cars, it won't happen. Wow, what an educated statement there.
Alas I disagree that it makes the GTR's time out of the question. I look forward to the ZR1 and ACR's credibility being put into question and see how close an independent can get to matching their times. |

So take your gtr to the track and blow the tranny and theres your sub 100k car now a 100k car lol After all is said and done if the gtr performs like a gt2/3 then you will be paying for high repair bills because nissan wont!
