trying to clean up garage floor
contrators left some concrete/cementy type crap at the front of my garage.
They were spraying the top layer to reveal the agregate and a whole heap got under the garage door seal, they probably had the dorr up as well as they were using my water hose. The base was epoxied 2 years ago (A pro epoxy) I tried a jet spray from my water hose, a number of scraping implements, but still a crap left on the floor. hard I'm going to get a preassure washer, electric, from home depot, rental and give that a try, anything I can put on the "concrete" to soften it up or is it just a case of hard implements and elbow grease ? I can supply pics if need be. |

Ah, I hear ya. Wonder if the vinegar can take the color out of the floor coating? So I found this that may help. https://www.sakrete.com/storage/comp...ls_10.2016.pdf |

actually I tried my cleaning vinegar, double strength, the first hit, it fizzed up nicely, maybe it's mortar? I really don't know. I know they poured "concrete" then the next day they took a preassure washer to it to show the stones in it, then they sealed it.
The vinegar doesnt take the color out. I went through 2 cans, and in between using a broom, to rub it in, and also one of thoes flooring things, you know that you can break ice with or pull up tiles, it just wont scrap, it very hard but get a spray on it and it removes it, very tough going. but getting there, I suspect if I had a good preassure washer, it would break it up. I used 2 layers of epoxy and then a clear sealer, (forget the name) but it wasn't a box store brand, had to get it imported for the US. Armour Pro or something similar Quote:

I think I'm going to go with that, I have used Muriatic, actually when I was etching the floor prior to epoxy,
I'm thinking of mixing it 5:1, and pouring it on a damp floor, if not then 5:1 on a dry floor or maybe even a 3:1, putting some baking soda at the foot of the garage, to neutralise the wash out. I have a feeling that will work, the vinegar is working but it looks like it's only taking a mm or 2 of the top of the concrete, but the floor tile scraper isn't making a big enough dent. |

If they poured concrete and then washed it off to expose the aggregate, then they washed off concrete. That concrete piled up under the door.
How would you remove concrete? |

I went out got the sakrete and also some muriatic.
I put one coat of sakrete on it. (as the instructions said) and left it for about 20mins, as I sprayed it, got an immediate hit of rotten eggs smell. Came back and it looked all green and cackey, the instructions said, dont touch it and put another coat on. If this works, I have some tools which need de-mortoring. I think this works better because it's like a foam and it stays put, pouring vineger on it, just runs off, I was going to put some shop towels down and soak them.. |

didn't work that well, this crap is really hard on and too thick, the sakrete looks like for thin smears, anyway, I'll just continue to use the vinegar , shop towels and elbow grease, looks like it's down to about 10-15% I may try the muriatic, but it's now raining
