Hi everybody,

This thread is about my experience of owning a AMG. I just want to share my unexcepted experience with AMG, not want to blame AMGs.

My girlfriend bought a 2020 C63 last year, and now is about 4.5k miles old. Last week, I took the car to a track since the car just got out of the break in period, but I got ripped off by the AMG. On the speedway, I drove up to about 130 MPH, and left side of the front end underbody shield was falling to the ground because one bolt was loosing due to the air force. I checked the underbody, the plastic nut or clip that should attaching the bolt was cracked. It also ripped the fender liner apart.

I went to the dealer, but they were not surprised about it, and want to ask me about $500 to replace the fender liner.

The car has never been serviced so that nobody had removed the bolts before to potentially damage it. I cannot image that a 80K performance car cannot drive to 130MPH for some fun. I personally have a 13 M6 Coupe, the M6 is solid like rock. I have lowered the car and scratched around the bumpers everyday, and drove up to 150-160+mph without any issue.

Now, I stopped to compline about the oil consumption of the M6, and would be very happy to offer her a 1 litter oil drink every 2K miles.

This is just my personal experience, but you might got lucky with AMGs. I was trying to get an AMG GT before, but now, I am looking for a F90 M5, ZL1 or a C8 Z06 once the M6 starts to rip me.

This. I immediately thought AMG released a Bro-Powered Protein Shake.

Regardless OP, just ask them to fix under warranty. Grand scheme of things this isn't a big deal.

I wouldn't call a loose fastener getting ripped off. It happens and if that's the worst thing that happens you will be far ahead of most MB owners as you don't buy those vehicles for reliability as they make BMW look like Toyota in comparison.

I have a buddy whose wife also had a C63 AMG-S. Car was a total lemon, they were able to give it back within a few months.

Everybody I know who owns a Merc runs into some sort of build quality/reliability issue even in new cars.

Funny, my AMG experience (W204 C63), has been fairly amazing. Other than needing a new battery at one point that caused all sorts of issues including losing power steering. The only thing it needed was lots of fuel and tires...

What I will say is, the new ones seems to be losing that build quality that they got back during the W204 era

That is a good one! I have owned 4 between my wife and I. The cars no issues BUT my favorite even if I only had it for 6 weeks was my favorite. Had to have a ML55 when they came out. Had to go out of state to find one -- Oklahoma City.

The transfer case would at slow speeds randomly go into low range! Not a good thing almost got me rear ended a couple of times. Bottom line wrote the Lemon Law notification letter IAW with Texas requirements on the 2nd repair attempt. After that MB got involved directly and after one more attempt changed the TCM and another component worked for 24 hours. After that failure I got a check back from MB and they even located my trade which had not sold and sent it on a flat bed to my office! A few weeks after that got an note of apology, flowers and even a box of cookies from MB.

Was glad MBUSA stepped up they did the right thing.

Still miss that vehicle.

My Corolla S pops those little plastic buttons too on the lower plastic shields at 130mph. I keep a bag handy and check before and after....
