So my nest doorbell stops working when it's more than 104 degrees out. Which it was today and will be tomorrow. Pretty lame considering my Ring cam has a max temp of 120 and continues working. Maybe a ring doorbell cam is better. Anyone else have this issue? I got an email from Nest saying it could be due to power or the WiFi going out rather than admitting it's a limitation on the product shutting down to protect itself, which you'll find out if you google Nest Cam max temp.

It's in the front door which faces west. I have a wyze cam in the backyard that has the same max operating temp but it's in the shade. I also have one in the den which is like a greenhouse. No issues. I think it uses the temp reported by google for my area and arbitrarily shuts off above 104 no matter what. It probably would still work but they turn it off at that temp.

I don't think that will make any difference and will limit the field of view. It uses the outdoor temp reported in the app to determine if it will shut down to protect the electronics.

Lol. Interestingly enough it didn't shut down yesterday though it was hotter than the day before. Maybe they disabled the feature. Just like when they disabled the feature where you can turn off the light when it is recording so I just covered it up with some black electrical tape.

I've had a Nest cam for about 5 years and that little bastard runs HOT. I cant believe it hasn't blown itself out just sitting there inside. Bad engineering, IMO. You probably have a popped solder connection on the PCB that makes connection until internal temps get high enough, then things expand and the connection is broken. I kinda doubt these things have onboard thermal management that can measure internal temps and shut down accordingly. But maybe they do.

I had a poe cam cutting out when it got hot outside since my siding was expanding in the heat and crimping the cable. Not sure if the nests are powered by a wire or battery pack but maybe worth a look depending on your situation.

I have a ring and we've never had heat related issues, however I find the app interface to be kinda clunky and slow to update.

I'll get a movement detected notification and it might take 20-30 secs before I can view the video. It has gotten a lot better over the year or so I had it... it used to take like 2 minutes to view the video.

The thermal design on most doorbells were not very sophisticated and did not have a onboard thermal sensor. Most modern (2018+) home devices and smart doorbells now have internal thermal sensors to protect the processors, cameras, etc from overheating.

My background is in consumer electronics i.e. Amazon Echo/Google Mini, tablets, etc.
