Windshield replacement questions to ask installer?
Hi All,
Bought my M340i used with 3000 miles (loaner trade in). Driver side windshield had a nice crack in the center so I negotiated a windshield replacement when I purchased the car. Its being replaced by the dealership I purchased it from (Certified Benz and Beemer) and they have fantastic service reviews. Still nervous about the process and sensors. I asked if it would be OEM and was told yes because its a 2020. What other questions should I make sure to ask? Sensor calibration? anything else? Thanks! |

Just get 100% clarification that it will be OEM (BMW badging on it) and not OE...there's a difference and they will try to install OE glass if they can.

Mine is cracked as well due to a rock. I hate to see it. I am worried if I have it replaced they will force me to a non OEM windshield.
BTW what needs calibrated after replacement? |

As far as why calibration is needed is because it's for your ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems), so essentially it's for maintaining the accuracy of the safety features in the vehicle. A non OEM glass probably isn't manufactured to the same specs as the OEM one so a calibration is 100% needed once you install the windshield. It's essential regardless of what glass you end up going with. And yes, this is an expensive replacement. You're looking at 2k+ probably from what I've seen and read. Got to pay to play! |

Update... just called the dealer where I purchased the vehicle and the glass is 100% OEM. I was told since it is 2018 or newer they wont use non OEM replacement glass. They will also do all the calibrations at the shop! Windshield replacement on Monday and Ceramic Pro ceramic coat scheduled for Tuesday!
