a watch winder is for automatic watches......that said, Omega, Tag, Oris, etc.

I own a Tag and an Omega.

All I can say is, Omega makes a higher quality watch. This is also the general consensus if you browse forums or what-not.

Don't waste your money. I did, and regret it.

I still wear the watch every day, but I should have put the money into savings, or give it to charity. Live and learn.

$3K -> $10K after 20 years, at a modest 6%.

And what will that $10K get you in 20 years time, given inflation, devaluation of currency, asteroid strike and what not?

I bought a Seamaster and have never regretted it. I don't wear it to work (cheap Casio gshock), but I wear it every where else.

I wasted my money getting a nicer car.. It's a luxury, but I should have just put the money into savings and not gotten what I really wanted.

Also, this house I bought a few years back, I really should have just bought a cheap one and put the money into savings.

I wear really cheap shirts to work because I don't want to spend the extra money on nice ones.. I want to wear nice shirts to work to present myself well, but I'd rather put the extra money into savings.

And by the way, when speaking about a luxury item, saying 3k=10k in 20 years (putting the issue into investment terms) is just plain silly. Well no shit spending X amount of money will not allow it to appreciate in an account over the course of X years. Shit, I bought $50 worth of groceries yesterday; That is $50 less than was yielding interest in my brokerage account yesterday. You can say that $3k is more than $50, and you are right, but it is the same principal.. The $3k amount is relative, because everyone's situation is different. $3k to me is different than $3k to someone else.

A good friend of mine is a watch-maker for Rolex. Apparently he is the best in Canada I've been told.

So passing on what he's told me; I'd/He'd very highly recommend Tag. They are fantastic value, for what you pay. Bulgari is shit, absolutely overpriced crap. Basically they are $60 internal movements, in nice cases. Not at all Worth it.
Rolex is good value also, perhaps a bit pricey, but still worth it.
The other brands are comparable to Rolex, as they are still good to quite good value for the dollar.

Anyone here remember seeing a commercial a few years ago from a financial advisor company that shows a guy in a combat helicopter wearing a 5000 dollar watch and the commercial said that he shouldn't have purchased not watch and invested his 5000 dollars instead and he would have made this amount of money. Someone should find the commercial!

Anyway, watches worn these days are more worn as jellewry for men.

I have a Tag Carerra Twin Time and love it. Just be aware that automatic movements will never be as accurate as a cheaper quartz movement. I also have quartz TAG 2000 series - I never have to adjust it. I have to adjust my automatic every couple of months or so.

For some reason whenever someone posts here about wanting a nice watch, the assumption is that he drives a BMW, but also lives in a trailer park, paycheck to paycheck by paying the minimum on his maxed out credit cards. Why is that? Why the assumption that someone wanting a nice watch can't actually afford one, or his cashing out his 401k for it? Especially on a forum devoted to BMWs? When someone posts he's just bought a $60k car we don't call his financial acumen into question. It's quite odd.

Thanks That picture was taken with a regular Canon point and shoot, it looks a lot better in person as the photo does not capture all the reflections.
