Custom Suits NYC

Anybody have a contact for custom suits in NYC, preferably Manhattan?

Another thought would be a to get very nice suits off the rack from a store with a great tailor. This is a suit for the finance industry.

Thanks

Dave

I'll pm you my guy Abe. He is actually from Texas but visits Manhattan regularly. His craftsmanship and prices can't be beat.

An easier way to spot a cheap suit is if you can buy one/get one free and not spend more than $150.

What average prices are we talking here? Tailors named Abe don't come cheap!

I once used Mysuit.com for casual tux and it was fine for years.
Just had to upgrade to a good fabric and it still fits me well and feels great.
I'm sure there are much more higher end ones, but I was happy with $600 suit.

Or you could just go to Century 21 and get a nicely fitting suit and have it tailored for $150. Total will set you the same $600 as Mysuit.com.

You'd be surprised. While price is dependent on the fabrics chosen; you can get in a bespoke suit starting around $1000.

For those who wear business suits, do you have them dry cleaned and how often ?

Short answer: Dry cleaned as least often as I want to get away with.

Cleaning (dry or laundered) wears fabrics, so the conventional wisdom says do it as little as necessary while maintaining hygiene and appearance.

I argue that the quality of your cleaners is also very important. Find yourself a higher-end cleaners if they're remotely convenient. Your clothes will smell nice and fresh upon pickup.

I can provide a great recommendation if the Upper East Side of Manhattan, or Hackensack NJ is convenient for anyone here... (they will pick-up, and deliver)

Most cheap(er) suits are "glued" so you want to limit the dry cleaning.

If you are getting a tailored suit you can get 1 jacket + 2 pants. I wear suits for work and pants are usually getting damaged faster so this way you can extend the life of a suit a bit.
