Thumbs up 2019 McLaren 600LT

As far as overall "driving dynamics"... No manufacturer or car is doing ot better than McLaren!

Looks like they have another winner on their hands here.

And yeah for me, This > 911 GT3 RS

Something about that exhaust exiting on top of the rear is just SEXY and Furious!

Quote:
You knew this was coming. Introducing the McLaren 600LT, the long-tail, more-horsepower top-dog cousin of the McLaren 570S. And while McLaren will continue to keep certain details away from us until the 600LT's dynamic debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed next month, here's everything we can tell you now about Woking's latest Long Tail.

By the numbers, 23 percent of this "strictly limited volume" car is new, not shared with the 570S. There's a lot more carbon fiber, as well as forged aluminum double-wishbone suspension and lightweight braking system inherited from the 720S. All those upgraded components save 211.6 lbs. in total, bringing the 600LT's dry weight (with all the required options ticked) to 2749.2lbs. Yeah, there's a 0.2 there, because it's McLaren.

Thanks to the uprated cooling and the reduced backpressure provided by the shorter, top-exit exhaust system, the 3.8 twin-turbo V8 now produces 592 horsepower and 457 lb.-ft. of torque. With that extra power comes quicker steering, sharper throttle and brake pedal responses, significantly firmer engine mounts, and a set of bespoke, track-focused Pirelli Trofeo R tires on forged wheels.

To justify the Long Tail badge, the 600LT is 2.9 inches longer than a regular Sport Series, thanks to having an extended front splitter, a massive rear diffuser and a fixed rear wing. This package produces a considerable amount of downforce.

@$245k in case you're wondering.

I will take 2. Hope that exhaust setup doesn't make a mess on all that carbon.

McLaren is killin it. I just wish they were a little more selective of their clientele. Any yokel can walk into a dealer and drive one.

I am not this fortunate at the position shopping for one yet, but I have a friend who was shopping at that level of cars last year and he told me the same thing. They even offered him a discount without asking. He ended up getting an 488gtb.

I am pretty sure things will change in the future once they have a bigger clientele.

Even though as a teenager I grew up stones throw from their headquarters, these cars never did anything for me. There's a few in our building, but I always look right back to the Porsches!

Well one of these is $250k+ and the other is half of that or less....so that may be a reason. Porsches also hold their resale better, especially if you are talking GT3RS/GT2/GT2RS level.

I'd drive it.

I love their ethos of lightweight and hydraulic steering. A shame their cars are designed to look like hideous insects. Nothing sexy about them to me...

Really? That’s the main reason I’m considering one. Have you tried walking in to a Porsche dealer and buying a gt3 rs or even a gt3? After they’re done ignoring you they laugh you out of the dealership. My experience at the McLaren dealer was far superior and you’re able to actually buy the cars.

Oh yea, I'd drive it. At night, spending the entire time looking out the rear view mirror at the blue flames shooting out of those gorgeous exhausts. I am just not ready to give up my clutch pedal yet on my fun car. It's the sole reason I'll end up with a P-car or AMV8 roadster with a stick over an AMG GT, used f car, or similar when I pay the last college bill for my girls next year.

It's not like this isn't a looker. I wouldn't kick it and its clutch pedal out of bed.

That was his point, poor people like me could buy one after a family member dies and leaves me with the remainder. That's so low rent but McLaren would sell me a car unlike Ferrari.

I don't understand this. It's pretty easy, they literally only make 3 cars.

Here is the 570S and its hardcore version the 600LT is above

Here is the 720S

Here is the Senna
