I think its the nicest design to come out of China...quite cohesive compared to others. Not quite a BMW rip off, its veritable mixed salad of looks though, you can see bits of quite a number of cars...from the front, I concede it is 5er-ish...but the structure also looks contemporary Opel (Vectra) or even Lancias...the rear quarter panel reminds me of the VW Passat or Skoda...

...also the rear is Lexus IS-ish and the interior looks liek a mix of VW Passat and Camry...looks like the engineers sat down with a bunch of car magazines and copied bits and pieces and put them together ...

Didn't they buy Rover (or maybe it was another Chinese outfit).
Anywho, the front is pure Rover, the sides are a mix of lexus and bladness (with a dash of G35 at the back), the rear is the answer to the question of what happens when an Audi slams into a BMW that hit a Mercedes. And Yes, Briliance is 50% joint venturer with BMW in the plant doing complete knockdown kit assembly of BMWs in China for the local market. |

I better start taking Mandarian at school. China is gonna be the next superpower in about 30 years. They're supposedly already equal to us now, and will surpass the US soon. They're economically more stable than we are.. well thats what my poli sci teacher keeps telling us.

Your poli sci teacher has good sense of humour.
China will experience political upheaval and economic dislocation before it will come back to the path of growth and stability. It may become a superpower - in 60-100 years from now. For the moment it is a regional power, like India, etc. and one with a hot and perhaps overheating economy. You can reassure your poli sci teacher that 10-15 years of growth for the economy of a developing nation that is on a planned (top-down) industrialization drive does not a stable economy make. Given the balance of payments manipulation and huge government off-book deficit currently being absorbed by the central government in China, upon an economic slowdown-inevitable once the world economy cools, I would not want to be one of the mandarins trying to figure WTF happened and how to fix it before being shot in a football stadium for incompetence. |

That's a knock-off if I've ever seen one. Just goes to show that in a repressed society where the institution of State is more important politically than the individual freedoms of its citizens, there will be stunted creativity, innovation and originality.
