Should I or Shouldnt I?
Hello Antonella
My name is Jen, and I’m a Casting Director for MTV’s Real World. I saw your profile on Myspace and thought you were either cute or clever (or both) and therefore someone we’d like to meet and consider for our show. So let’s get this part out of the way first… This IS NOT a mass email. I’m a real human being, I really work for Real World, and yes, I really did look at your profile. If you’re skeptical about whether or not this is legit, feel free to visit our official website www.bunim-murray.com. Click on the CASTING link, and check out the notice under Real World Casting. Okay… back to business. I want to give you the chance to attend an invitation-only casting interview in Los Angeles or San Diego, on Saturday, February 25th, between 11am and 5pm. As you are probably aware, we get most of our cast from unsolicited casting tapes and open casting calls. We are VERY selective with any Internet recruiting we do. For this particular effort, we expect to see less than 100 people. To put that in perspective, we receive approximately 20,000 casting tapes per year, and see another 10,000 applicants at casting calls. So not only are you on the “short list,” you get a personal (and longer) interview instead of sitting at a table with 10 other applicants and fighting for attention. If you’re already saying to yourself “sounds great, where do I sign up,” here’s how: You MUST RSVP. Reply to this email (via My******* with the following information: 1. Your Myspace profile name. 2. Your full real name. 3. Your non-Myspace email address. (So we can send you a reminder of your appointment time). 4. A phone number where you can be easily reached. (We will only call you if we need to re-schedule your interview last minute). 5. Whether you want to attend in Los Angeles or San Diego. 6. Times when you are available (must be between 11am and 5pm). For example: “any time between 2 and 4” OR, preferably, just tell us your are available “any time.” We’ll do our best to schedule you for a 5 to 10 minute interview within the hours you specified. Once you contact us, we will reply with an interview slot and specifics on the location of the casting interview. (Usually you’ll hear back from us within 24-48 hours). We recommend you contact us ASAP. We have a limited number of interview slots, and will book them on a “first come, first served” basis. So don’t get left out! FAQ Q: Are there any special requirements I should be aware of? A: Just a few. You must be between the ages of 18 and 24. This means you CANNOT turn 25 before July of 2006, and if you are not yet 18, you must turn 18 before May 2006. You also must be the same person depicted in your photo/profile. (I’m sure it’s obvious why we have to say that). Q: What season is this for? When does shooting start? What city are you in this time? A: Season 18. Shooting starts May 2006. The city has not yet been announced. Q: I still feel weird about attending this thing. What should I do? A: If you’re concerned, have a parent or someone else escort you. We want you to be comfortable and feel safe. However, DON’T try to get us to audition people we didn’t invite. This is NOT an open casting call. And DON’T bring more than one person. We mean it. We don’t have room for a crowd. Q: What will happen in my interview? How long will it take? Will I be videotaped? A: You will have a brief “meet and greet” with one of our Casting Directors. They’ll ask you a few basic questions about yourself so we can get to know you. We DON’T videotape at this stage in the process (see below). Although the interview will take 5-10 minutes, please be prepared to stay for 45 minutes as we sometimes get behind schedule. Q: What will happen AFTER my interview? How will I know if I’ve been selected to move on? A: If we liked you, we will call you within 24 hours to schedule a follow-up interview which will be longer and conducted on-camera. If you didn’t make the cut, you won’t hear from us. Showbiz is a tough business. Q: Does this cost anything? A: No, no, no. We NEVER charge for auditions. Anyone who does is scamming you. Q: What do I need to bring to the audition? A: Just a snapshot of yourself. It doesn’t need to be a headshot or anything fancy, as long as we can tell it’s you, it’s all good. Q: I can’t make it to those locations/on that day/at those times. Can I do this some other time/somewhere else? A: No. If you can’t make it on Saturday, you’ll have to attend a regular casting call or submit a tape Should i audition to be on Real World?

Well im out weighing the Pro vs Con
Pro- Great publicity, meet people, helps in my career choice, once in a lifetime experience, possible get other deals, travel Con- hold out on school, being "Sterotyped" on tv, the negitive publicity, living in a house with crazy ass ppl.. Hard choice

I'd make a phone call to B/M and speak to an actual person about it. I used to be involved in arranging auditions for ad agenies/films/photo shoots, the way they are inviting you seems a little odd to me. Usually if it's a small/closed audition like it says in the email, they'd want to speak with you before asking/giving you this much info. Maybe things have changed over the years.
Just a heads up for you. |

Hold out on school....taping is from may until when?? Does school begin in August?? Stereotyped on TV...yeah, that could be tough. Negative publicity....you...nah! LOL! But...they might not choose you if you go in saying..."booze and sex...not really me." Living in a house with crazy ass ppl......LOL! You are thinking about going to college right?? LOL! unless you are going to live alone...this is a given. Plus...don't you have crazy ass things that happen at home already...

I don't buy it. You mean MTV actually pays people to browse myspace all day looking for new people to put on TV?
If it's legit, go for it! But MAKE SURE first! There's a lot of scammers out there, and I highly doubt MTV would contact you via email... |

These shoes strip EVERYBODY of their dignity even if you're the "winner". I love watching them, but only because I can laugh at people who subject themselves to such humiliation thinking it will help them in life somehow....
How many "reality stars" have ended up rich, famous, and/or happy? Very few.

I've never watched them, even the first ones. I knew one of the girls from one of them, Lori, but I never talked to her afterwards. I hadn't seen her since like middle school.
