Finding your passion
Why is it so hard to find what you love to do?
The answer is: It’s not hard at all. You read right. It’s not hard at all. Then why are so many people having difficulty finding what they love to do? Because they’ve never truly asked themselves. . . Asking yourself the following questions may shed light as to what skills and interests you possess. If you went in a bookstore, which section do you naturally gravitate toward? Ask friends for any skills and interests they see in you. You’ll be surprised at how much insight they have on you that you’ve never thought of before. What do you spend most of your time doing? What do you look forward to doing? Go back and think of your accomplishments as a child. What kind of skills and interests revolved around your accomplishments? What did people praise you on doing? What did your teachers or parents say you had a skill or knack of doing? Why am I emphasizing skills and interests here? Skills: Because you’ve got to leverage what you’re strong with. And don’t say you don’t have any. Everybody has skills. You’ve just never sat down and thought about it and wrote it down. By using your skills, you’ve got a head start, a catalyst. Interests: Simply because you’ve got to love what you do. By including interests, you include another form of an anti quitting mechanism. . . How will you know you’ve found what you love to do? Does it make you feel good? If you feel it in your gut that you’ve hit the jackpot, you’re right. If your friend were to bring up the idea you picked, would you be all over it talking about it? You have to have no reservations about it. If you feel the slightest doubt that it’s not your passion, then it’s not. You must hunger to overcome any obstacles to pursue your passion. Once you have that, your search is over. That, right there is what you love to do. As for how to make money off of it, you might have already found ways when you wrote down your answers. http://briankim.net/articles/how-to-...ou-love-to-do/ |

very true, but this should be shared to graduating college students or driven people under 25.
sometimes age and time vested into a firm/ company etc. outweigh the ability to create change merely for the fact that making money off a passion does not come close to current income. great inspirational post OP!

I love to fuck. Does that count as passion?
Work on cars, drive cars, work on motorcycles, ride motorcycles, shoot guns, go traveling, meet new people, drink beer, eat bacon, ride bicycles, go hiking..., If you're not passionate about something then you're a recluse and need to get out into the world. |

Don't go out in the sun, after being in the dark for too long it might hurt the porcelain skin..., or worse, might die. Also, find someone that you can pay to do your shopping so you don't have to leave your recluse station.

ive been trying to follow my passion but there is no job that allows me to sit on my couch all day, drink and watch tv/play video games.
If anyone has a lead on one, let me know. |

Actually there is. Watch youtube and you'll see people get paid to sit all day, drink and watch tv/play video games while be a commentator. Just need a little personality and the rest is easy. Lol. Not sure if they get paid a lot, but they get paid.

You know the funny thing about finding your passion? It is something you've been asking your self since you were a kid. "What do I want to be when I grow up?" I am 42 years young and I find myself still looking for something to this day! I have served my country for 21 years, began my second career as civilian and yet still feel something missing.
I have many hobbies that keeps me pretty busy between family, community volunteer, driving/working on cars, DJing, cooking and other things I can't think of right now, but it's not enough. I guess you can never have too much passion. Definitely worth writing down these thoughts to see what you want to be when you grow up!

What you have said is very true, if you're already on a set path.. you're lucky if it's something that u originally wanted to do I guess that's why ppl are so big on their outside hobbies, and pursue it with religious dedication.. I'm a turtle that keeps shedding his shell.. haven't stopped growing Quote:

You seem to like serving others, contributing to other people. (Just a guess/observation) How do you know something is missing? Can you think of times, or doing things when that itch is scratched? |

I hadn't realized I lost it.. long ago. just seeing now where I went off the path and lost the MOTIVATION that is intrinsic to do anything, well at least, without having to make yourself do it and getting mediocre results. Passion does exist, go way back in your childhood to the last time you REALLY wanted to do something. |

I always think of this. Unfortunately what we are passionate about doesn't always come with a good salary.

Let me give an example.
My parents would always say that I used to love running as a soon as I could walk, I would run ahead and then run back on whenever we were outside. Didn't think much of it until HS, when athletics came up. I was reasonably good, so I started training, competing, but found out I wasn't that good, and also do to an untimely ankle injury, my sporty pursuits stopped at age 16. I was never the best, but i liked doing it, achieved some results.. I never regretted it. I didn't GET anything from it.. but what else would I have done? |
