Unfortunately, the environments in which the youth of today's times are raised has grown increasingly volatile (I love using that word), and people are needing to exert their own forms of judgment to move forward. Whether that be through trial and error, or experimentation, then that's what it comes down to.

In my opinion, there is no such thing as "the perfect" significant other, or method of finding someone. There are simply options. My standards are unfortunately pretty high when it comes to considering longevity, and I've had to test the waters quite a bit. Up until this point, it's been a fail because most women can't even live up to half of my expectations.

I'm not worried though. I usually put money first, anyway.

Indeed. Online anonymity allows people to exercise their id and pretend it is who they are. People laud it and pretend that the behavior is "cool" and then it turns into real world behavior. A super-macho troll on the Internet is mildly amusing, the same thing IRL is far less so. And the younger it starts online, the more likely it crosses over into real life. But seriously, this sense of anonymity with the internet is probably one of the biggest problems for the future generations. It's pussifying the youth. They are keyboard warriors, not board room warriors. They spit hot game in the chat room, but stutter and stumble in coffee room.

I almost forgot about family. For me, I've had more destruction and despair come into my life through family than any other means. Not that I love them any less, but they are probably not as important to me as they should be. Maybe I'm a fucked up person. But I've got a pretty dark past. Financial stability has been something that I'd never been blessed with, a well-balanced father either. I think that is why I value monetary stability so highly, and why I usually tend to disregard the sentiments of others if they are not aligned with my own ambitions or if they are pessimistic.

I've invested a lot into my past relationships and now I am quite jaded. I've got buddies who've dated the same girl during the time that I've had 9-12 girlfriends. It's just how it is.

However, moving forward I have set these standards as such to eliminate the ones whose company I choose not to have. A dating app, in that sense, is a good place to start because physical attraction comes first, and the process is subsequent. I'm not trying to get married tomorrow, if at all. But the company of a decent female is good to have.

I feel you on this one dude. I had a similar past in many respects - from what I can piece together. My Mom once told me that nobody is completely useless - they can always serve as a bad example. And, with a father that did not serve as a role model, you decide at some point in life that you will NOT be him. The fear you have that you could be, should be ameliorated by the fact that the mere recognition of it as fucked up, probably means you won't be. You have already broken the cycle. Now go live your words. Simple as that. (heh... riiiiight, but it is doable).
