^^ Oh come on, I'm such a dream girlfriend! I can cook, I can talk poetry while being macho enough to provide a sense of security, and I have long hair she could do always.

I have a dog that may be graduating as a partner for a blind person in October. It's a one day event, starting at about 0900 and ending noon-ish.

Question is do I fly there or take my time and drive 1200 miles round trip?

Is there anything else of interest there, or would you be driving only to do the ceremony for three hours and bounce?

PS that's exciting, congrats.

Well...Hwy 1 from Cambria to Carmel is interesting, especially after the tourists go home. However, having never driven it at this time of year, I'm not clear if foreign tourists are still around and driving 10 mph gawking at the ocean.

Try mixing it with crumbled Italian sausage, some parsley, kosher salt, and stuffed into a jalapeno and baked at 350 for 25 minutes

Ah, can't comment on that then, although I've driven from Sonoma to Carmel during the peak of summer, and it actually was fine around the Carmel area. At least, until you get into Carmel and are inevitably trapped behind slow-moving geriatrics.

Very cool. I'm considering the VS lip, but my driveway is sloped, which makes it difficult not to scrape as is. Not sure if I want to get it and try a steeper approach angle. Expensive experiment...

We go up to the peninsula each August for raceweek. Tourists and enforcement are at the peak in the area. Not a fun drive along PCH, especially the thought of running into gawkers and crashing down the cliff into the Pacific, screaming the entire way.

Originally thought you meant that the gawkers would be screaming and falling down the cliff, which at least would add some variety to the drive, but you're right, it's a bit less fun when you're the one crashing into the ocean.

BTW, is that Behati in your avatar?

If you've never driven the stretch of PCH between Cambria and Carmel, it's a nice variety of road with awesome views. So awesome it attracts a thousand million people to check it out in the Summer. Further South, there are some nice long stretches, but up towards Big Sur, it's twisties.

My worst fear is coming around a corner into a random idiot who thought it would be a smashing good idea to drag a 30' trailer through the area. Bad things happen, so I either avoid the area or drive slow.

No...it's not Behati.
