Ordered a Venti Green Iced Tea with Lemonade from Starbucks and as I was opening the straw I accidentally hit it against my steering wheel as it was in my mouth. I heard a snap, so obviously I cracked the straw somewhere. I'm sure we all had this happen before and it's usually not really a big deal, right ? WRONG As I'm half way done my drink I realize nothing is coming up the straw, realize again it was because I cracked the straw. So I think to myself if I turn the straw around I'll be all good....WRONG AGAIN as it turns out I have a crater of a hole in my straw and it's right in the middle, so no matter how the straw is, it's never going to work. So I was left with half a tea that I was unable to drink really like those things and was thirsty to.

^ +1, or have someone drip spoonfuls into your mouth.

I can't believe you didn't deploy your trunkmonkey to go get another straw either.

I'm starving right now and it's 45 minutes to lunch. Ever since I started working out regularly I feel hungry all the time.

When Apple switched charging adapters for all their devices. Now I have to have multiple charging adapters for my old iPod and new iPhone.

I'm sick of restaurants half-assing spicy food because people don't like the heat. If I order something spicy then I expect it to be spicy, not mild or vinegary. I ate at this Thai place for lunch and I ordered what was supposedly the hottest dish on the menu, the waitress gives me this condescending look and says "are you sure? It's VERY spicy!" Well my food was brought out and it was pathetically tame, I had to ask for extra pepper sauce and even that was a complete joke. Taco Bell's "fire" sauce is mild at best and now they have extra mild sauces in grocery stores. Every time I'm at a sushi joint I'm meted a tiny little pinch of wasabi or a miniscule spoonful of chili paste. I guess I have to start carrying around a bottle of hot sauce everywhere I go because of other people complaining about how their food is too hot.

Nah, because it's people with first-world mindsets doing the complaining. They expect the restaurants to cater to their tastes and the restaurants are sick of getting food sent back and dissatisfied customers so they lower the heat. Which punishes people like me who enjoy actual spicy food. If you go to India or Thailand you can be assured that spicy food will actually be spicy.

Sound like third world countries to me.

So you need a 3rd world solution, eh?

First World Problem would be "I have to travel to India or Thailand to get my spicy food."

Oh come on guys. Condescending waitstaff? Sit-in restaurants? Complaining guests? What part of that sounds like the third world? People in third-world countries just eat whatever they have. They don't turn down food because it doesn't meet their tastes, unless there's dog shit in it or something lol

But a First World Problem is like "My filet mignon at <insert high end steak house here> was 2.5% overcooked."

You need to go find a real ethnic place. Not an "ethnic" place for Americans. There's a Chinese place in Champaign that is true Chinese street food. Duck tongues and crap like that. You need to find such a place.

Garage List
Funny that you say that, because I had a similar incident at work... But I hate it when people stoop to the lowest common denominator and expect everyone to follow it.

What happened, you may ask? On one hand, my boss treated some of the employees (me included) to Hunanese food (Hunan is a region in China known for spicy foods), and I handled that shiz like a champ.

On the other hand, a colleague brought in some crackers that he "cannot finish", and he had to make sure everyone knew it was spicy (side note: He didn't make it to the Hunanese restaurant; yes, for that reason)... But then, I chow one down and almost don't feel anything and even said it; maybe an aftertaste of chili at the most and me and this one girl laughed at his inability to handle it. I actually went back to the cafeteria, brought the Sriracha back to my desk and stared at him while I'm pouring it on, then I munched it down looking right into his eyes with a straight face, then said "now you want to talk about spicy? I still feel OK"... The whole office was laughing.

I say 1st world problem. The food would be spicy in the 3rd world, unlike here. Also, pretty sure people in 3rd world countries wouldn't be sending back any food I kid I kid

In the past 24 hours, she woke me up this morning at 4am for round 6...., and it's just now Friday. I only have the next 8 hours to prepare myself for the rest of the weekend.

The Thai places I go give me a 1-10 spice rating scale to order. I'm normally a 7, but if I'm having a beer I'll go to 8.

When I make guac for the office, all the Hispanics complain because I use too much chile (I'm 3/4 Irish, 1/3 German) but they always ask me to make it again since I cut everything fresh right as I'm mixing it in. At least they can handle the ajo. . .

There's a Thai place here that made a colleague cry. He kept saying how good it was. I don't get how folks can enjoy food that causes them pain. I like some heat with some cuisine like Indian. But painful heat just doesn't appeal to me.

What is with these vehicle/train collisions lately? Like you can't see a big, honking train coming?
