I'm guessing he's one of those pilots that are SOOO proud to be pilots they rip on everyone else you know? We have a couple of those too. It's alright though he doesn't realize by the time I'm his age ill have 10 times his total time. But what can you do. You learn to deal with captains that have bitch attitudes so this is nothing.

Lol you're serious about this lol and you won't start a fight I'm not that stupid man. Point taken and I shall next time though

I've been around a lot of pilots. I was raised by one and I fly with them every day. Whats disturbing among some pilots is a certain lack of self respect. People need to think about their self image and what they project. I don't think I was being too harsh on the guy, and I certainly wasn't looking down on him. Sometimes people need to have pointed out to them how certain things they say can diminish us all as a whole. We've all been there, never said I wasn't too.

But quoting me saying " 'I get to fly' hahah that's rich" isn't looking down on me and laughing and saying that's rich and come talk to me when you have more than XX hours isn't looking down on me? LOl then what's that called? Self respect? Your pride is getting to your head. All I said was I love what I do and think it's wrong for people to complain and bitch about something when they want to reach the top. What else have I said that shows lack of self respect? Please do point it out.

BM, you fly for Gulfstream I assume? Are you planning on upgrading to the 120 or sticking it out until you have enough time to get out?

120s are GONEEEE man lol been so for a couple of months now. I had an interview to start flying CRJs but with the economy and shit they had to postpone the interview. So now I'm just staying here until something opens up you know. They said when they start hiring again for the crj they would call me back in the order they originally were going to. So I wait and enjoy flying what I have for now

But yeah man they got rid of all their 120s a while back.

I'm glad you do and I agree that the whining can be tiresome. Perhaps I overreacted to what I read and busted your balls a little to much for it. Apologies, no serious offense intended, okay?

Oh, and you'll need about 100,000 hours to reach that 10x goal.

Yes it is right now. But if you really love to fly, you'll ride through it. You going to gulfstream as well?
Also, you know they opened a new base in Cleveland right? We have northern operations now.

I forgot to mention mods had to be done before they could enter back in service, one of them was fo the installation of hyd fuses (shuts off the flow of hyd fluid when it exceeds a set limit).
It takes a ruptured hose and free flow to start moving the plunger inside to shut off the flow and contain the system for other uses.

Basically the core is the same but just a 'performance plug' has to be swapped for a higher rating thrust. It's all about $$$ and paperwork to get it.
Pay the engine manufactor more $$$ for more thrust, they supply you the new performance plug, paperwork showing the thrust increase and approved by the manufactor, and a new maintenance plan with reduced on-wing time and increased inspections. Also increased EGT margin monitoring too.

It's mostly paperwork BS...just like if you want to increase the MTOW of the a/c, you gotta ask and send $$$ to Boeing for it for them to change the weight # on the papers and approve it. They know the potential and max specs but won't release the info as it's found from testing...basically they de-rated it further for a extra safety blanket.

Look at the CRJ-200, they couldn't take off from PHX when the temps were almost in 100+ F because it wasn't listed in the AOM and airlines would have to fork over $$$ to Bombarder to get higher temps listed in the approved AOM book.
Yes it can do it but just not legal and pilots don't want to get in trouble with the law.

The inlet diameter is smaller on the 777-200ER, on the GE90-115 that is only installed on 777-300ER, the diameter is big as the 737 fuselage.
Difference to tell apart used to be the fan blades (carbon fiber with ti leading edges for errosion control) until a 'performance improvement' package was released by GE to improve the fuel burn and robust, it's the 3DAero fan blades that is installed on the -200ER for those who have GE and opted for it (Continental has them).

Dang you're right, I knew it started with a E and it was a 767. That is flight #961.

The EgyptAir 767 that I mistaken for had the thrust reverser deploy open on engine #2 during cruise due to a short in the reverser locks wiring causing them to deploy. The reverser wiring was modified shortly after to prevent this from happening again.

Yeah, but again, like Airbus and their failed A320 test flight, why do they have to kill people before they realize: "aaaa, um, guess that wasn't a good design". I am all for McDonalds and BK hiring the mentally challenged, but airplane manufacturers?

Yup, know all about all of that. But like I said, if the an airline wants to they can easily convert the GE90 up to 115k, pretty cool. The CRJ-200 was a great, great example Coolest fact in your post and one that so many just don't realize is the ability to fit a 737 fuselage in the GE90. The first time I was standing in front of that I leaned into the engine and looked straight up and was like Damn, unless you are standing in it (got pics of that) or right in front of it you just don't appreciate frigging big those things is!!!

Cheers,

FYI, Airbus didn't make any changes to the aircraft after that incident. The problem were the pilots.

Don't ask me. I don't work for Airbus or their engineering/design/testing dept.
Would've been better if they rigged it up to fly r/c like NASA did with a fully fueled up 707 flown into a collision course set up with steel beams and structures to simulate crash landing to see if the new fuel they're testing can be "less explosive". It failed in a few ways...veered off course before impact, fuel still exploded.
They found out the hard way it's impossible not to make fuel explode or catch on fire...duh that's what the engines needs...SUCK, SQUEEZE, BANG, BLOW!

You want this then?

PIC flying AC, VHF 1 comms will TX, but not RX. PNF side will TX and RX without problems.

Engine 1 won't start on FADEC 1A, starts on FADEC 2A. EICAS msg disp 'ENG 1 SHORT DISP' on shutdown.

corrective action 'R&R FADEC 1A, ops ck good' 2 trips later same problem is back....new corrective action: R&R FPMU, no fix, R&R FADEC 1A yellow harness, ops ck good.

or on a 757, you get a ELEC XFER fault, go down and reset a few CB's in order to clear the msg and ops ck good.

Displays not working? check the SG and the IC-600, swap IC-600 side to side.
If RMU showing dashes, swap the ICU side to side to see if problem follows.

AIR/GND fail or LGND...check the prox sensors and CP's

FCND? perform RTS and repower the a/c

PACK 1 or 2 fail? most likey the DTCV took a crap and need to be R&R, instead of taking a delay and there's the other pack still working, MEL the shit one

EMDP won't turn on? Replace the hard fuse and ops ck.
EDP leaking, replace it.

HSV fails at idle but good at all other power settings? replace the HSV.

Wing or stab A/I fail? perform the check with N2 power setting @ 83%

Aileron PCU leaking? replace it.
Rudder wags or shakes during taxi in? replace both of the actuators, if no fix, replace the PCU.

IDG disconnected due to low oil pressure? service the IDG and reconnect it. If it will not lock connected, replace the IDG

ENG TLA IDLE STOP FAIL? lock out the T/R and MEL it

ENG ND on shutdown, check P0 sensors tube for water, replace the P0 and FADEC static sensors.

Cabin ALT uncontrollable in AUTO mode, ok in Manual mode, R&R the digital controller, if no fix, check the outflow valves.

How's that for ya?
