To be fair, why is that expensive? I spend six to eight hours on a wash, clay, correction, glaze and sealant application and just the general fluff of cleaning the wheel wells, polishing the exhaust tips, etc. a good sealant is $50-80 and other materials used are another $20 or more, so for $300, you'd be getting labor at around $30/hr, which seems more than reasonable. I certainly charge more for my actual consulting fee.

You pay $125/hr for someone to change your oil or brake pads, even if it's "free" maintenance.
And good auto detailers make six figures without too much trouble in nearly any city, so yes, $30/hr is a very good deal. |
