Jeep Owner Stellantis Warns of Fire Risk in 200,000 Plug-
In SUVs
By Keith Laing

(Bloomberg) -- Stellantis NV warned that nearly 200,000 plug-in hybrid Jeep
SUVs worldwide may be at risk of catching fire.

The carmaker is recalling roughly 154,000 late-model Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe SUVs in the US over the flaw, the automaker said in a statement on Monday. An estimated 14,038 vehicles in Canada are also affected, plus 673 in Mexico and 25,502 outside North America.

The recall is the latest blow to an automaker struggling with sliding sales, a declining stock and unrest among dealers and unions. Stellantis shares tumbled after it slashed its 2024 financial forecasts earlier on Monday. The stock fell as much as 14% as of 3:36 p.m. in New York, its largest intraday drop in more than four years.

Stellantis said drivers should avoid recharging the plug-in hybrids because
"vehicle risk is reduced when the battery charge level is depleted. Drivers should also park away from other vehicles and structures until a fix is ready, which is "imminent," the company said.

Tesla needs new product. Like the CyberS (Acute Triangle), Cyber3 (Equilateral), CyberX (Isosceles), and the CyberY (Scalene).

I thought the current Plaid was already at 1.99 seconds

Or does the Taycan include rollout and the Plaid doesn't?

All cars with 1 foot of rollout.

Taycan’s two passes were 1.898 seconds in one direction and 1.910 in the other.

Tesla S Plaid was 2.1 under their testing previously.

Tesla themselves used 1 foot of rollout in their 1.99 second claim but that was on a drag strip with the sticky tack prep material that is used.

Now it's a certain EV getting the boy racer 0-60 time in under 2 seconds (at a Santa Pod type straight with slicks and liquid rubber on track) and on a real time track half mile back

Precisely why buying an EV right now is silly. Too many technological advances. Let the manufacturer eat the depreciation, lease only. Just watch those residual values!

Like the Earth will take care of its climate? That there is a higher power that designed the system, which is beyond the capability of mankind to understand? And trying to force BEV as a solution to save the planet is a great plot for a science fiction movie, but in reality is just utterly ridiculous?

See that's just it, you say the words "open minded" but you don't actually know what the words mean.

With the crazy lease deals they are having, it doesnt make sense to buy them either.

Got a KIA EV9 GT for under $500 a month on a 2 year lease. Dealership was doing everything they can to get rid of them. Pretty low residual at the end of the lease as well. around 55% of the $78k MSRP.

Wasnt really looking or planning on an EV, but it was by far the cheapest and best deal on a fully loaded 3 row SUV that has decent speed.
