Awesome car, and very good work! Makes me happy to see an old E30 like that!
I got the same hobby too. Just got hold of an E30 with just 40000km. Planning Alpina wheels, 2,7 liter M20 engine, Alpina suspension, 325ix LSD and brake upgrade. Thats about it. WIll keep it as original as possible. Here are some pictures, together with the E21. http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthre...=707962&page=2 |

Shoot me a PM, we got it from a very nice gentleman in Latvia (Alex) who pulls them from E30's and restores them completely. I'll pass along his details
You guys are too kind! |

The restoration really tested mine. Part of being the first full project we've ever done like this on a car. Knowing what to expect is half the battle though and I'm happy to share any advice with Bimmerpost members who are looking to do restorations themselves. |

That's a damn shame. I am a supporter of E30's for daily driving, but I also think they should be taken care of too. Somewhere between Garage Queen and Beater.

I agree; they're great daily drivers. Unfortunately the M20 on my e30 is 311,000 km and I don't have the time/patience/budget for a swap or a full rebuild at the moment so I limit my driving to the weekends (during late spring/summer/early fall. She sleeps in the winter).

Great job
![]() PS. I can appreciate what effort and work went into this my first ever e28 1987 535is is still with us (at the time of purchase in 1987 was one step below the then ///M5) and we are maintaining her as much as we can. She's got new front fenders, new bumpers and a complete original paint job since some one in Toronto keyed the car in 2000 all around including the hood and trunk ... she will always be with us ![]() ![]()

![]() $450 may seem like a lot, but if you look at some of the new alternatives out there, like the Alpina E30 wheel, you'll be saving a bunch (That goes for $700+). Also, if you find one of these M-Tech II's and are able to pry it out of the hands of the owner, its going to be over $400 if the owner has any idea what he has. Plus re-upholstering is going to be a PAINNN My wife definitely thinks I love "Kylie" more than her. When she found out how much the restoration cost... well lets just say she wasn't happy. Sounds like your M20 lasted longer than mine! Ours spat a valve into the cylinder which is why we swapped in the S52. I'm trying to find the photo... |

The engine is probably the only part of the car the PO took decent care of. When I got her last year I had to patch 5 holes in the rockers and another hole in the passenger A-pillar. The floors were previously patched (thank god, that would've been a nightmare). The passenger fender was gone and the paint/clear coat was peeling. I also blew 2 brake hardlines last year. I got most of the kinks out of her right now and am slowly getting her back into shape. Thankfully my gf is supportive enough to not get in my way (also she doesn't know the overall price tag). She knows I want to be burried in this car ![]()

Perfect! Don't change a thing.
That interior is amazing. I love the details.
