Yes, if true, the salesperson shouldnt have a job, neither should the gm for that matter. But as a CA, I don't feel bad for her one bit. SHE knew what she made, and how much the payment were. SHE gave them her $30k, SHE signed the papers knowing they were false. SHE should be responsible for her actions.

Everyone is a victim after the fact - it's one thing if they falsified the papers, but she is complaining about loosing her lifes savings $30k that she put down - no one made her do that - she deserves what she gets and maybe more!

The real question is this... Why would someone show up to a BMW dealership to buy a $100K car when they collect (not make) $2500 a month and have $30K in the bank? No one is that stupid. She obviously has a mental illness impacting her judgment, and now has had a moment of clarity and regrets her mistake. Her only chance to get her money back is to claim to be a victim. Good luck with that btch. Her parents should have taught her better.
This short story really touches societal problems on so many levels. So frustrating. And sad.

Of course she's incredibly stupid, but there is nop shame in having only 30K saved.

BTW, I am not flaming you, but I am saying maybe you don't realize it because you probably never lived it. I have lived in some of the poorest places in the country and yes there is not opportunity abound. Again its all different, lets not jump the gun and ridicule people for having next to nothing. Some people couldn't save that if they tried. And think about it, there is not enough money in the system for everyone to save that much by that age. Mathematical impossibility. So yes, the rich to absolutely need the poor to be rich. Without them, you wouldn't be nearly as wealthy if you can call owning the BMW wealthy.. It is the ownership differential that counts. If the US was a true communist country, then no one would afford such abject riches. Its the ugly fact about capitalism. It produces a bunch of super rich, a whole hode of the rich, then unfortunately an almost as large hode of the very poor. Its just the way of the world and we are lucky not to be in the lower category. Again I agree the lady is incredibly stupid though. Now that said, I think she is to blame for her situation. Nice car though. Damn, my two cars don't even cost that combined. Also, the sales man is not blameless, he flat out robbed her. How on earth are her payments $1300 if she put 30K down? I think I am missing something.

Old rich people of course. It just so happens the old are majority rich\disabled.
You noticed right, except your conclusion is wrong here. I don't want to be nor pretend to be the forum sage, but I do have to tell you, it is statistical pure and simple. Who are the majority disabled - old by far! majority rich? you guessed it, the old! There is indeed an absolute correlation there, though it appears worse than it really is.

Douche. Anyway, the woman is just as much to blame as the financier. People should live within their means, and if you are on hard times, live like it. I think the reporter is just as much of a fool for slanting this story to make the woman appear as the victim. Our media certainly doesn't do much to help our country's vision. |

isnt that a finance? sounds more of a finance loan to me. lease doesnt cost 30k + 1300 /month. even if she can return the car, it'd kill her credit history anyways. so i'm sure she'd pay for her mistake.

No worries on the bank account. I paid cash for my 335i, have a 4 story house, and my only bill is insurance. I got to this point by living within my means, saving and investing, and steering well clear of credit. I don't think that lesson is prevalent in the US these days. |

So basically, this dumb bitch can't figure out that spending half her income on a car won't work? TYPICAL OF SOCIETY TODAY: please, help me, its not my fault, even if I pulled the trigger on the gun, it wasn't my fault. They should have installed a safety feature that allowed the gun to know I'm about to do something and stop me from firing.
Typical BS, its always someone else's fault. you can't make this sh*t up, because its just too stupid to be a made up story.

Sad thing is, the government is coming out and "forgiving" or "helping out" with these kind of debts, especially with mortgage debt. So much for capitalism...seems a lot more like socialism to me.
