Just wondering, how many of you work for a company that forbids drinking during work hours?

Is it in a contract or just something that is frowned upon?

My brother went on a business trip to Chile. He said they offered him a glass of wine while giving him a tour of the office. At first he thought it was a joke. But then realized every other desk had a glass on it.

Well, at 2 of my offices I actually have a full bar and encourage my employees to use discretion while drinking while still at work. Turns out most people have a drink or 2 after work a few days a week and then head home. Everybody in the office loves it though.

I'm not sure if it's forbidden, but I've had a beer with a supplier when they've brought us to lunch. That was one time though, I typically won't during hours. If the supplier takes us to dinner after work, then I tell them to keep an open tab.

I made the mistake of telling my boss "You don't pay me not to drink" during a discussion of me being called back to work, and the wife having to drive me in. Now they pay me $22/day to be on-call 3 weeks at a time. . .

Be careful what you wish for.

It's funny, the day I go off-call, not a care in the world for a drink. But then as the on-call appears, well, I can probably have just a wee dram tonight.

So I ordered a media console 3 months ago and it finally arrived yesterday. It must have been built by magical elves or some shit for it to take so long but anyway thing arrives damaged. It's made of metal and one of the legs (made of solid metal) is completely bent. I had a rare good day at work, second time since December '13, so I was in a good mood and then had to discover this shit. Long story short or possiblely longer i don't know, I took a bunch or pictures texted to wife and we discussed and asked her to call them. I started drinking at some point. She texts me back "if i called i might get more results". Ok so i take my shirt off to flex my drunk muscle and prepare for fight on the phone. So i call and long story short (or longer again i don't care) they apologize and are sending a new one in about a 4 to 6 weeks (might confirm my elf buiilt i guess) and i get to use the f'd up one until then for free because they are refunding money and will bill again when new ships. wife just texted me. where was i ?uh titties are awesome, f*** paragraphs, i'mm going to listen to some tunes,get a refill,pay some bills now, thing about retireiment i;m out

Usa, Seattle.

The blog was just for the road trip, it got it's last entries done and till next summer or an ED, I won't write an other.

i heard seattle is depressing from some people and other people say they love it. tech people seem to be gravitating there. i personally would pass lol

at least you did a road trip to help break up the boredom maybe. we love that shit. i've done a cross country road trip in the last 550 and now we travel up and down the west coast looking for new mini adventures and good food.

10 years ago it would have been partying. either way, i rarely find myself bored wherever i am. i take that partially back... when i was in chicago, winters use to make me crazy a few months out of the year.
