You regularly sit on 800 lbs of LiPo batteries so you are one of the bravest people I know.

GM is moving out of its Detroit headquarters towers
Apr 15th 2024
General Motors plans to relocate its global headquarters to the new Hudson’s Detroit complex in 2025, abandoning its iconic Renaissance Center location.

GM's occupancy of the RenCen towers has shrunk over the years, meaning it now occupies just 1˝ of the towers in the seven-building complex.
https://www.autoblog.com/2024/04/15/...arters-towers/

Translation-GM is cost cutting. Mary Barra continues to kill GM.
Investing $1,000 in General Motors: Shares of General Motors opened for trading at $39.63 on the day Barra took over as the CEO of the company. Accounting for dividends paid over the years, the shares traded at an adjusted price of $30.15.

They should just admit it and move to China and Mexico.

We all know how easy to hack in people phones when users plug their phones into public charging stations. Same thing happen to EV cars. You better watch out. You better not cry. Hacker is coming to you.

I don't think there is any security guard guarding the charging stations. Hackers can get into the charging stations hardware like piece of cake

Don't worry. Most of the time you will not notice any change in your life until your credit scores drop to the bottom of the floor. Then you find out someone is using your identity to apply for 5 credit cards you never applied for. Welcome to the cyber world with cyber criminals.

More than half a billion dollars of taxpayer money has paid for other people's EVs
Apr 15, 2024
A new report by the Department of the Treasury reveals that American taxpayers have paid an eye-watering amount since the Internal Revenue Service updated its rules regarding tax credits on EV purchases on January 1st.
According to a recent report, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has received about 100,000 time of sale reports since January 1st, and reimbursed auto dealerships $580 million in advance point-of-sale consumer EV tax credit payments under the newly implemented ruling.
On January 1st, the IRS' updated Code Section 30D went into effect, where qualifying buyers under certain income thresholds can get up to $7,500 tax credit applied to the purchase price of qualifying North American-assembled new EVs that meet certain sticker price restrictions, or up to $4,000 for a used EV price at or below $25,000 that is at least two model years old.

Just have a chat with my EV friend who become an EV owner for 2 months. His stories is getting more interesting every day. I feel sorry for him as he has to put up with all the BS with other EV drivers in Vancouver. He need an adapter for his Tesla to plug into the regular charging stations to charge up his car. In 2 months he has lost 7 adapters (someone stole it from his car while he was charging his car). Out of count how many time other EV users unplug his charging cable from his cars as nothing happen. End up his car never get charge.

His article nothing I didn't already know. I too find the hypocrisy in EVs, I do not like the forced change by government, am amused by so many automakers jumping in head first and all in on EVs only now to be losing their a$$ on that decision, etc. I love my ICE vehicles. I also understand that EVs do have their place, and a useful place at that, for large groups of society. It's good to have choices and options. If it takes government incentives to convince people to initially adopt EVs, so be it. The future is a combination of ICE, EV, fuel cell, hybrid, etc. We do need EVs and we do need people to buy them in order for the technology to advance.

I also chuckle reading all the doom and gloom posts by Car-Addicted and Weather Man. Sure, there's truth to some of those articles and what they are saying, but they are clearly on one side of the fence. For me, just like politics, I sit squarely in the middle. I observe, research, learn, and make my decisions. Sometimes this thread reads like a CNN and Fox News article. Loud, unintentionally funny, annoying, hypocritical, and heavily biased.

Your comments got me thinking about the Pontiac Fiero. In many ways, I see the Fiero as a microcosm of the EV. The Fiero was developed by GM to be a inexpensive commuter car. 2 seats, small, easy to park, good fuel mileage, durable space frame design with a durable plastic body. It was a new direction for GM. A new architecture that was easily adaptable to market desires. It had some initial design flaws and production quality issues, but it sold very well. Only until the market for it bought it out and leveled off. The Fiero was meant to be a 2nd commuter car for the family, with the more practical vehicle left for the big sedan or wagon for family hauling duty. In the end, there just wasn't a large enough market for the Fiero to sustain it.

I think the EV market has stagnated. I think the majority of EV owners have bought their EV. The rest of the market doesn't have the interest. I don't think the market needs a mix of alternate fuel vehicles simply because gasoline (and) diesel answer nearly 100% of the market's full needs.

You say you are amused by all the automakers jumping in head first, yet say on the other hand we need EV buyers to advance the technology. And that's the problem, there is no natural economic auto market to sustain EV technology development without massive government investment. The EV market HAS to be forced upon us, because most of the market sees no point in paying a higher vehicle price for less service, and at no real lifecycle cost savings.

Saw a piece on it and apparently it's quite easy for a seasoned hacker or hackers, who would want an EV knowing that temporary fast a catapult thrill can turn into a nightmare uncontrolled ride by an unknown enemy anytime.

Only a few people actually want cars instead of horses. Once all those people buy them, the market will be satisfied and demand for cars will be zero. The market sees no point in paying a higher price for an inferior good. Can you even eat a car when it dies?!

Prescient.

Better, cars are mostly metals, glass, and plastics, which can be recycled indefinitely into new cars or other machines that do work far better and cheaper than beasts of burden.
