Here's one from today in Central Park. This was shot with the 16-35mm f4 IS. I just cropped it to 4/3. The shot below it is a 100% crop from the first image. Love this lens.

Yep. Book Expo is every year at this time. Next year it's in Chicago, though. So our string of yearly NYC visits will end.

I love Central Park. I could come here every day.

Pretty happy with the SL1 and 55-250mm STM.

Really just s snapshot, but it does illustrate how good the Fuji is. I fumbled the settings, and ended up shooting a few JPEG only shots this last weekend. This was right out of the camera with a minor exposure tweak (1/2 stop or so)in Lightroom. ISO 1600 1/125 f/ 6.4, and I could totally make a sizable print with this. (The flight of Sbragia Cabs was really good too)

So I was down at the water today taking pictures of boats and trains, when I heard a noise that will warm any aviators heart. The sound of 4 Wright R-1820-97 Cyclone Turbosupercharged Radials filled the air as B-17 "Nine O Nine" came into view flying along the bay. I wish I had known, as I would have positioned myself where I could have gotten a better side view. Still, being right under it as it flew over was pretty cool. I'm going to try to get it at a better place tomorrow, but the weather is not supposed to be as nice.

Agreed. I was standing in a graveyard a few months ago when a B-25 came over at treetop height. I was holding my 5D MkIII with the 70-200 f2.8 IS mounted. Do you think my first instinct was to grab a pic? Nooooo. I stood there like a dumbass with my jaw hanging to my belt gawking at the history flying by. Then when I finally remembered the hardware in my hands and grabbed some shots, the settings were waaaaaay off and I got big pics of white. How I wish I could have that minute back.

Your shot is awesome, Ed. Glad you didn't brain cramp like I did.

Perfect timing, DC. I'll be out there at the Tech Center area in 3-1/2 weeks. We still on for a trip to your wildlife area?

Thanks Ed, but I had about 20-minutes and took the same shot over and over. He didn't move, except to crow.

Yes we are, but I don't have it on my calendar yet. Send me a PM with the exact date range.

Thanks Mark. Only because of past episodes like yours, I keep one of my custom settings (C1) on all my camera bodies set to TV 1/160 ISO100 for any random prop aircraft flying overhead, so I can quickly throw the dial, aim up, and fire! Nothing worst than the model airplane look!

Speaking of which...I grabbed some shots of a commuter helicopter landing at a helipad beside the Hudson River a couple of days ago. Do you think I remembered to lower my SS to 120sec or so to get prop blur? Nooooo.
