Are the boffins that have decided not to sell the M135 hatch in the US the same idiots that have decided small diesels won't sell here (while VW/Audi is kicking their ass with their small diesel)?? Who are these marketing people asking?? They are obviously not talking to existing BMW owners...or people with a brain...

Americans don't hate hatches. They simply don't buy them if they cost over $30k

Keeping the i8 as BMW's flagship is smart, i like. This establishes BMW's priority as efficient sports cars - a good image for them. To have a gasoline supercar that trumps it would only foil what they have built up. (Flame suit on)

I don't understand, what is so exciting, the stripes ? the M135i will be an 135i with Power Kit (+20 lousy hp) and M-Sport suspension and a few other tweaks including dozens of M badges.
Sounds like the same engine that's in my 2011 E90 335i with the performance package. Frankly, I don't know why BMW doesn't just make the 320 bhp version of the N55 standard vs. the 300 bhp version that shows up in their cars with the N55 in the US market. It seems like I get better gas mileage along with the increase in performance since it was installed. I wouldn't think that the cost would be any different, plus most folks who opt for a N55 over the N20 are looking for extra performance anyway.

I want BMW to build a supercar, please not like the BMW i8. Just a pure supercar like the Ferrari 458 Italia. Wide, low, and muscular. Please BMW!!!

They should use the v12 6.0 that was used to power mighty McLaren F1, I guess add latest techs to it.

I think everybody is underestimating the scope of engine changes that ///M is going to do this car. I don't think it's going to be the equivalent of the factory tune in the 640i, x6 or x5 m-performance pack nor the dealer installed performance tunes on the n55.

Most of it will be different ECU tune increasing the boost, but I bet there will be intake, exhaust, cooler and oil pump changes, perhaps even more involved mechanical changes. Look the 1M wasn't the exact same engine as the 335is/z435is. This will be the successor to 1M. I will more be expecting in the 335 hp range with perhaps a remapped tranny to better exploit the engine.
