Jameson with a touch of water is what I drink right now. I haven't delved into the more expensive stuff, yet. I'm just getting to the point where I can pick out flavors in the whiskey.

1. For most bars "top shelf" stops at Hennessy VSOP. 2. If a bar does carry more expensive liquors, they're usually marked up way to much. Jameson is a good daily drinker. Powers is as well IMO. |

Dalwhinnie - Everyday scotch - very easy to drink a lot since it is very light and smooth - bottle only lasts me a couple of weeks at the most.
Bookers - cask strength bourbon that I just sip - bottle lasts me a couple months at least. Macallan - what I order when I'm out - sometimes Oban

Has anyone tried Stranahan's? When I was in Denver over the summer, both a bartender and our guide at Great Divide brewery said that it was some of the best whiskey they had ever drank. I saw it on Modern Marvels over the weekend and the "spirit sommelier" was genuinely impressed when he tried it. It's reasonably priced, especially if it's that good.

It is definitely an acquired taste for many...the only stuff I like to drink straight is scotch myself... For me to drink Irish/American/Canadian whiskies straight they are pretty top end stuff. Try splashing some water or 7up with Jameson to take the bite out but not overwhelm the flavor

jameson is very smooth and awesome but consistently makes me feel sluggish the next day. i am a big fan of makers as a daily. havent really got into the expensive stuff as I like vodka much more.

lagavulin 16yo. super peaty, not for all. oban is good. i'm on this glen taite 19yo stuff. it's bought from mccallan when they overproduced and they put their own thing to it. it tastes a lot like mccallan but there's a speyside/fruit/citrus taste to it. i'm a fan. of these 3, obans the cheapest -_- i hate how i have expensive tastes.

I like Kilbeggan Irish Whiskey, Aged 15 years, the bottle on the right.
(mer) Kilbeggan Finest Irish Whiskey Aged 15 Years wurde bei der „International Wine & Spirit Competition 2009“ (IWSC) in London als “Worldwide Whiskey of the Year” ausgezeichnet. Die Cooley Distillery, Besitzer der Kilbeggan Distillery und Irlands einziger unabhängiger Whiskey-Hersteller, erhielt die Auszeichnung “European Distiller of the Year“.
