Thanks for posting the video, but if someone is planning to use this video to swap out their controls, I strongly suggest you read my post here:

https://g60.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...&postcount=234

Among other things, it includes the following bullets relating to this video which should be heeded as a warning around the 13:10 point in the above video.
  • IMPORTANT - Do not follow that video all the way through to the end! When I got to the part of that same video where the guy starts working on the right side of the console and the first step is to pry off the iDrive controller knob, that's where I thought I was going to have a heart attack! I pried off the knob like in the video, but then realized that it didn't come off anything like in the video. In the video, just the knob comes off and leaves the main console part under it in place. When I pried it off, the whole center portion came up and would not pull away from the console. When I looked at it closely, I could see that the ribbon connector underneath was still connected and I was pulling up the whole center assembly! Fortunately, I was able to position it carefully and push it back into place, but was worried that I may have broken something (fortunately I did not).
  • At this point, I continued with the other video called Multimedia Knob Video. It showed how to deal with the volume roller and iDrive controller knob properly. I found it difficult to remove the black cover on that component by prying more clips away from the base, but finally got it done - it required a little more force than I expected and none of them broke off, so that was a relief considering I had broken a clip on the left-side part previously.

A link to the other video I'm referring to above is here (also found earlier in this thread):

https://29144107.s21v.faiusr.com/58/...gYoj4OZpwc.mp4

Good luck to anyone who wants to try this, and be patient and give yourself extra time just in case. It can be done, and is very rewarding afterwards, but I would not say it's for the faint of heart.

Do those controls light when installed? Like genuine one?

They all light up except for the volume roller. I don't think there is any light below the volume roller if you don't buy it that way from the factory, so that one does not get lit up. However, the other three controls have lights under them in the console, so those lights still function and light up the controls accordingly.

I'll try to grab a picture later today so you can see what it looks like when the lights are on, and perhaps in dark conditions.

Here are a couple of pictures of the console at night. All three crystal controls are backlit except for the roller, but I don't think it looks too bad, even though it is not directly lit. Each person will have to decide on their own I suppose.

Although the roller is not directly backlit, it appears that the grey plastic piece underneath it is translucent and is perhaps grabbing some light from the surrounding lit buttons within the console.
