It's kinda silly that Carlos doesn't feel as respected as some of the other drivers out there. I would consider him a really good driver, and the fact that he's been pretty comparable to Charles who is Ferrari's #1, you're getting a mature driver who has experience and is fast.

He should be the second coming of Danny Vic (at RB..) and yet we hear that a lot of people are not even giving him a shout.

I've seen rumors that's he's not great to have on a team behind the scenes, and that could be why his options are narrow.

These rumors are most probably true and even proven, but he's like a rubber duck, mostly banging about subtly and internally and not celebrating radio ga ga for the audience during his race.

Judging from their time together, Carlos was faster than Norris, both are slower than Verstappen. The problem is both probably believe they are the main character.

I can see Carlose siphoning off a few of Max's wins, but Max beating him. I think Bottas to Hamilton, the only problem is that RedBull doesn't want a Bottas, Max's ego won't allow it.

My ranking:
Bottas =/= Charles
Carlos =/= Russell
Lando

This is sad, he’s deserving better than to be on a bottom feeder. I was hoping he’d take a year off and come back in 2026 for the regulation refresh.

he reportedly has a clause to move to Merc or RB if that becomes an option.

sounds like Marko wanted to offer him a RB contract but I'm guessing was blocked by Horner who wanted to retain Perez (this was in the news a while ago)

but with the power struggle at RB you never know

Yeah I did see about that clause, my fingers are crossed for his sake. Williams is purgatory

Yeah but doesn’t that require Mercedes to actually want him? You’d figure if it’s not now, it’s probably never. As times goes on, Mercedes and Red Bull junior drivers get older and more likely to get a seat. If Antonelli or Lawson don’t get a seat next year, you’d have to expect them to get a seat in 2026.

The one thing that I think makes this a little better vs Audi, is that right now Audi is going to be taking over the worst team on the grid, under the leadership of Binotti. (I see a lot of “we are checking” in their future)

Williams > Sauber in my mind, so if he can pull off some half-decent results for Williams, outcompete Albon etc, his stock might not drift too much. There are a few cautionary tales out there on the other hand (think Danny Ric to McLaren then Renault, or to a lesser extent Bottas to Sauber) that support if you have one bad season, F1 team bosses will not be lining up to sign you for the following year. Memories are short.

Purgatory might be a good analogy, it’s not hell, but far from heaven.

"In this context, the function of the appendix appears to be to expose white blood cells to the wide variety of antigens, or foreign substances, present in the gastrointestinal tract. Thus, the appendix probably helps to suppress potentially destructive humoral (blood- and lymph-borne) antibody responses while promoting local immunity. The appendix--like the tiny structures called Peyer's patches in other areas of the gastrointestinal tract--takes up antigens from the contents of the intestines and reacts to these contents. This local immune system plays a vital role in the physiological immune response and in the control of food, drug, microbial or viral antigens. The connection between these local immune reactions and inflammatory bowel diseases, as well as autoimmune reactions in which the individual's own tissues are attacked by the immune system, is currently under investigation.“

I wonder who is Merc waiting for ... Verstappen?

Sainz says:
I went very far with every single option I had on the table. I also visited and had conversations with both Red Bull and Mercedes because they are the most competitive options.

“But as soon as I understood that I would either have to wait quite long or depend on others to make that happen, I wanted to be the boss of my own destiny and I took that decision of going to Williams.

What do you mean? It’s highly likely that Kimi is taking the Mercedes seat. Mercedes might be borderline trolling with the Verstappen mentions but it’s clear that Kimi is the future for Mercedes.
