A survey conducted some odd years ago defined the subjective definition of "old" - in fact, the typical bloke believes that their age +15 years is considered "old".

If you ask a 10 year old kid at what age he thinks is considered "old", he'll say 25+. If you ask a 50 year old man at what age he thinks is considered "old", he'll say 65+. If you ask an 85+ year old man at what age he thinks is considered "old", he'll say I'm old, you ass!

Based on no scientific methodology, just observations the majority of drivers of the 330i Sport w/manual tranny tend to be younger and male. As you take away those specs (either downgrade power to the 325, downgrade tranny choice to the slushbox or downgrade handling performance to a non-sport model) you get increasingly older drivers. Take away them all (someone in a 325i, non-sport w/slushbox tranny) and they are generally either solidly middle age or a true badge hound.

Of course, every now and then you come across a truly old guy driving the piss out of an M3. So generalizations are just that.
51 yr old Old Fogey here getting a 6MT and SP!!

I honestly never considered buying my 325 without it having a MT. The only way to go...IMHO.
The funny thing is most of my co-workers are surprised at this. They'd want the Steptronic (and a 5 series) - and they're 15-20 years younger than me.

I've seen all kinds of people driving E90's, where I live mostly individuals in their mid to late thirties/early forties. I think it all comes down to personal preference and the factor of affordability.

I was in Malibu cruising back from Zuma two days ago when I saw a Blk/Blk E90, debadged, dumped on what looked to be Breyton Multi-cross spoke rims. Sick car, and it was a young Asian guy driving it, what a pimp!!!

You'll be there before ya know it! Then you'll remember this post and think, "damn was it that long ago? Seems like only yesterday..."

in my opinion bmw is for younger people, and mercedes is for older people, or that's just how it seems in australia.

It's not that old.

I was 55 last week.

I got a Harley Davidson for my mid life crisis (39 years old)

The BMW is my old age crisis (55 years old).

I like to have FUN.
