Everyone knows that. Still, it's important for Nissan to separate the two in the US. Otherwise Infiniti might lose sales.

What crack is Nissan smoking these days? Their headlights and taillights are the worst ever.

The new 2009 model continues Nissan's trademark roof line and DLO while incorporating other Nissan design elements such as the shape of the grille, headlights from the Q45, the twin exhausts, strong symetrical wheels, incorporation of the turning lamps. The design also brings in some of Infiniti's more organic shapes and eliminates the slab sided look of the 2004 model (especally in the C-pilar and rear quarter panel area). IMO, it's very much a Nissan design and every bit a Maxima.

well it looks to me as if a combination of a Camry, M35 and a G35...

for a nissan owner this could be a good thing, however if I was an infinty owner i would be pissed, b/c now you are gonna have all these maxima drivers thinking they are in an infinity (and yes i know that they are the same mfr) but my point is, people who spend the extra change would be pissed.

just like toyota and lexus when their camrys looked very similar to the ES

That is the nastiest front end I've ever seen...the '04+s were pretty bad looking as well. IMO the best looking Maxima's in recent times were the 2002-2003s...I loved how my '02 looked once lowered, tinted, etc. There's no saving this abomination.

I still don't get why Nissan didn't go with RWD on this car. They had the chance to do it this time around, but NOOOOOO. When will they learn to separate the Max from the Altima?

And WTF with the "Sports Car" designation? It ain't a friggin Sports Car. Sporty FAMILY Sedan, maybe...

If it had RWD would anyone buy the G35?
Actually Id choose a G35 over that max because the G35 looks good and this doesn't.

New Maxima

Oh, it's awful... My stomach is turning from looking at those pictures. Nothing looks good with either the interior or exterior. It's a mess! The dash doesn't look much different from their trucks and SUV's and that entire outside of it is horrible! The sad thing is that the Maxima used to be a really great car in the 1990's and from about 2000-2003. I had a 1999 Maxima SE and really enjoyed it. It was sized right, had plenty of power and only weighed just over 3000 lbs. It came stock with 190 hp and 205 lb/ft-tq, but it was such a nice engine with strong/smooth power band. Of course, I laugh now every time I drive my 335, because there's just no comparison at all... especially the smooth power delivery and FWD vs. RWD.

i don't like nissans at all. it feels like a high volume mass production type product. great numbers on paper but the feel of the car is lacking in both emotion and qaulity. like the g35 and 350z, great looking cars, nice power....but when you get behind one, its like having sex with a rubber doll.

about this maxima, looks terrible on the outside, but i have to admit, they stepped up their game in interior design.

ps. i love my bmw.

I can't help but say that I'm really glad I didn't buy the Infiniti G35 Sedan. I was looking at that for a long time trying to decide between my 335 and that car. I really liked it. But the fact that this car is damn near the same car (extremely similar body style queues and interior) would have pissed me off.

This Nissan looks great...as long as you didn't buy a new G35 Sedan.

not really. they just put the same basic interior that's in all their Infiniti vehicles and slapped it in a Nissan.

I'd be pissed if I were an Infiniti owner. No separation.
