That is what Mercedes does with the G Class and what Toyota does with the Landcruiser 70, though I would prefer the Landcruiser 40. But those are the only I can think of, and they are not sports cars.

You could say the same thing about Porsche with the Cayenne/Macan and Panamera.

It's a really great statement of a car! I admittedly never really liked BMW front bumper design, currently have an F 8X and I like it best. Would love that car, though.

By the time I got there, the E46 M3 GTRs and the M4 GTS Concept had been moved to the Nicklaus Country Club for the Legends of the Autobahn event. That was Friday the 14th. The Nicklaus club is between Laguna Seca Raceway and the Laguna Seca Golf Club. Close enough to hear the vintage racers on the track.
Had to drive down a golf cart path, pay $20 to park on dirt, pay $20 more for a sandwich + soda + bag-o-chips + chocolate chip cookie, etc. So, no, it wasn't the Pebble Beach experience I was hoping for. :-( But it was worth it. Great cars, friendly people, even the "Audi guys." Might do it again in the future, but not next year. Next year, BMW is the featured marque at the Monterey Motorsports Reunion. So me and my BMW-fiend buddies will be heading to the track for that lunchtime "parade lap". (Hopefully with my brand new M2...)

what is that red loop thingy next to the oil cap? is that simple looking, cost efficient device useful in any way? some sort of measuring device? nah, don't need it.

Sound videos
They're playing in my head. ![]() I got to watch the GTRs at the Petit Lemans that year for 10 hours. They made great sounds. They had a copy of the road going car on display in the cold pits, IIRC. I keep wondering if the contemporary 4.0L V8 can sound as good, though obviously not at full race volume. Unfortunately, I'm going to wait until my E36 M3/4/5 dies to buy one and find out. It could be a while. Marc 1997 M3/4/5 148k VA, USA |

the GTR's were one of the highlights this year forsure.
Next year bmw is the marquee brand for the historic races and they are supposedly going to bring out a lot more unique stuff. |
