I'm just purely excited for the thing, period. I love the looks, the interior, and all of the chassis improvements. It'll be my first NA V8, 6MT, and LSD-equipped car. I just want to uncork the exhaust and cruise in it. With some occasional back end action around some remote roads or at dead intersections. Then some track time over at Sebring.

Oh yeah. Dis gon be good. Btw this ambien is unreal... I should've slept 20 mins ago. Can't type right prob gonna check this in the morning.

Two initial tests on hand from C&D and Motor Trend. 0-60s same or a few tenths slower than the best times recorded by the S197 GT TP. 1/4 traps are one tenth slower, but trap speed is much higher.

Basically a stalemate in number so far, but braking is better, cornering is better, and the thing can get around a circuit without the driver compressing his O-ring to death if you know what I mean.

The new one is significantly faster around a track. Even faster than the old Boss 302 according to Ford. Still a number of faster versions to be released too.

I've known for a while that Ford was making the new 5.0 faster than the Boss 302 so it's no surprise to me. I just want to know what all the people who jumped on the band wagon of OMG! Its slower than the previous model! Are thinking now. Yes it might be a tad slower, but it does trap higher and isn't THAT much slower in the 1/4.

It does weigh more but I guess they fine tuned the suspension to compensate for that huh? Lets see what it'll do in the hands of everyday people, then the true times will start coming out.

personally i love the looks from the side angle, rear, and interior.

I am not really feeling the looks from the front.

Once you put the right exhuast on, and you row through those gears. you are going to understand why guys like me ( V8 M3 owner) do not find the new turbo 6 cylinder M4 appealing.

you earn respect points from me. BTW i am ordering a 7 speed manual C7 early next year.

Oh no, you just don't understand; the 3-Series IS designed to be an $80K M3 then dummed-down to be a $35K 320i with 180 HP.

$35K will get a nice 310 HP Mustang Ecoboost with Peformance Package BTW.

Heavier and slower than the old one, worse mileage, and I don't care about a V8 sound, just performance. I do like the looks of the new car though, I think they nailed it. I was actually thinking about waiting for them to come out when I started car shopping in August, thinking they were really going to up the performance.

We'll start seeing them on the autocross track soon and see how they do. They will be in SCCA F Stock (well Street now), along with the previous version of the Mustang, and the F80/82 M3/M4. It will be interesting to see how much the improved suspension makes up for the additional weight.

Better skid pad, better figure eight numbers, better braking, higher trap speeds. Slower by a blink of an eye to the sixty and quarter marks, but in-gear acceleration should be faster if the trap speed is anything to go by. The shell lost weight and it gained weight in additional stiffness, safety equipment, and amenities. The overall product is far more refined and more capable on real world surfaces that aren't marble smooth where the S197 (and Boss specifically) performed at their best.

So far we've got two owners chiming in with deliveries. This car looks amazing.



What's been very interesting lately is that two aftermarket exhaust manufacturers, Gibson and Magnaflow, have released catback gains of 30hp/25lb-ft... and it looks like that's at the wheels. Completely absurd and unheard of for something as simple as a catback which should realistically only add around 10hp/lb-ft if we're luck, but it also looks like the exhaust setup on the S550 is very restrictive.

2015 S550 exhaust setup. Weird suitcase object which serves as the crossover pipe and resonator. Might be the culprit for the severe restrictions (likely a move to comply with multiple markets).

And here's my personal favorite: a video review where the host compares it favorably on the "fun to drive scale" against the M4 which he'd recently driven. This might just be fuel for a fire though.

Its the 1st time I actually like Mustang at least on pics and vids. I like Ecoboost option too, but unfortunately it will probably suffer from same carbon buildup as 335i etc.
I don't get why its still an issue, DI engine have been on market for 8+ years already. $35k for a loaded Ecoboost is cheap, but I wish V8 option would be cheaper then it is.

edit: there are offers now where u can get one for $600-700 below INVOICE ($35k will get you a loaded GT)

I'll be looking at a Mustang convertible and the new Camaro next year. I'll try to get another year or two out of the M3 and I'll keep it as long as it doesn't give me problems.

I don't care for the interior of the C5 Camaro but I'm tempted by a ZL1 as they are so cheap. You can get a 2013 for $40-$45k easy. 2014 has some nice heated Recaros so that may be an option.

Don't hate me but I'm also slightly tempted by a Challenger Scat pack shaker in sublime green. Love the front end on that car.

With two small kids I won't be tracking a car anytime soon if ever.

The 1LE is fairly well dialed in, Ford is leaving a bunch on the table so you can buy Ford Racing products or it's special editions.

What I find amusing is you can get a nice CF lip for a Camaro or Mustang on sale for $300-$400 but if you want a CF lip for an M3 or Audi all of a sudden its $1,300...

Same with Exhausts to a degree.

Why is that surprising? It's been that way since the middle ages. Those 2 little grilles on the hood of an E9x M3 (by the powerdome) costs $25 each last time I bought them. I thought that was so absurd, but that's just the way it is.

It's still potentially a bad sign considering Alpha will hopefully lead to a lighter and a more agile Camaro for the 6th gen. That will probably be without the 1LE treatment too( if they continue with it).
