It's a Nexus 5x, which, although part of Google's Nexus line, was made by LG. They've had a bunch of issues with some of the LG phones because over time as the processor heat cycles with use, the solder to the package breaks down.
All it really takes is one trace to separate, then the software just won't run. You get what's called a "boot loop", where the phone will endlessly restart itself trying to figure out what's wrong, but it's a hardware thing. A lot of people have had it happen during this latest software update, because the processor is running at full steam installing it, and the stress of that heat plus the average age of the phone at this point pushes to its literal breaking point. Mine wasn't during an update, just tried to open the group chat. Screen froze like it had a memory leak or something, which wouldn't have surprised me with that app, but then it restarted itself until the battery was dead. Luckily I still have my old Moto X that I can activate and do something while I figure out what I'm going to do in the phone department. |

I'm on Google Fi now. If they give me a refurbished 5x I'll stay, been happy with the phone and service. Don't care to spend what they're asking for the Pixel though.
If I'm SOL, I'm thinking I'd get a 64GB Moto G5 in the Amazon Prime flavor, but I'd have to shop around for a new carrier. |

I've always heard good things about the Samsung phones, I just prefer more barebones Android. And I'm cheap. Ha |
