My god, good thing I asked. What factors should I consider when setting my limit price? Like say I want to get rid of something that day, would you just set the price a few cents more than the ask?

Ahh, this explains it. I think I need to start shopping around for a more modern brokerage account. Fidelity seems outdated, but what do I know. There active trader pro is kind of cool, but too complicated for this novice.
That's what I do, and if it doesn't sell by end of day and I want it out, set the order at the bid price. It should fill.

Debating in getting back into futures trading just to go long on crude with these steal prices, but I'm watching Shell & Mobil stocks as well.
I bought USO 2 weeks ago and watched it race to a 40% margin. My dumbass was greedy and watched it all the way back down to nearly where it is today. I already have a limit buy on it at my original purchase amount. I am doubling down and will sit on it as long as I need to.

It depends on what you’re looking to do. Yes, if it’s to make some quick money then set a margin of profit that you’re comfortable with and sell then (of course you might give up some future gains if it continues to go up). Holding on during this time is scary unless you’re in it for the long haul and don’t care about ups and downs so much.

Oh yeah lol I know that feeling way to well.. Greed and FOMO will cost you. It's good to have an entry/exit strategy and stick to it. Even if it rallies up 40% but you sell early at 15% that is still a significant percentage. In the end you still made something and always have the opportunity to set up a new trade. Also during this crazy time, the market is crazy volatile so I'm sticking to short term small gains until we bottom out or stabilize to go in long term.

I don't bother looking for the needle, I buy the haystack. 60% Total Stocks/40 Total Bond w/ 25% of equities international. I have an Investment Policy Statement (IPS) I wrote up many years ago that I follow. Hasn't changed much in 10 years and is making this blip bearable (sorry for the pun). This is it:

Objective: $XXM in retirement savings with a paid off house.

Asset Allocation (AA): 60% stocks / 40% bonds with 25% of stocks international

Rebalance when AA gets outside of 5% or annually

Invest in very low cost index funds

Live within retirement budget and save the rest.

Do backdoor Roth for myself and wife annually. Leave in cash in traditional IRA while waiting to roll over to Roth. Wait one week to do roll over to Roth to allow funds to clear. Once in Roth, lump sum investment into total stock market index fund.

Invest maximum allowed in 401k at a rate that maximizes company match. Use 401k to manage 60/40 AA. Invest only in low cost index funds where possible in 401k.

Invest maximum allowed in 401k after tax and do a mega backdoor Roth annually. Lump sum investment into total stock market index fund.

Invest 6% into company SSP II plan to get the 6% match.

Invest a minimum of $75k annually in taxable account.

Minimize current taxes by investing only in total stock and international stock index funds in taxable account. Tax free muni bond fund up to $50k is also allowed in the taxable account. Minimize taxes by concentrating bonds in 401k.

Maximize growth in Roth accounts by investing in total stock market index funds.

Restricted Stock Units (RSU): When RSU's vest, sell immediately and invest the money in a lump sum in accordance with my Asset Allocation (AA) in my taxable retirement account.

Bonus: Invest entire bonus each year in a lump sum in accordance with my Asset Allocation (AA) in my taxable retirement account.

Military Pension: Invest 100% of pension in taxable account.

Life Ins: Maintain multiple term life policies laddered until age 78. As savings becomes sufficient to maintain DW current lifestyle with low risk, policies will be allowed to end without renewal.

Inheritance: let my wife decide what to do after waiting three months.

If I could, I'd short TVIX again. It's not for the faint of heart, though.

If you want a wild ride check out UVXY. I had a large chunk at $11 and thought I was a genius when it hit $30 and sold it. Check out its March 18-20 numbers...I dont know why even when I make money my heart hurts about the lost opportunity.

It's a part of it man. I look at it as if I get out ahead....I won. I used to beat myself up about it. But you know the saying....pigs get slaughtered.

I have seen people get greedy, and lose money they shouldn't have taking a huge hit.

Live to fight another day!

I've been watching NAK real close lately. They own the stake to arguably the largest undeveloped mine for gold/copper in the world up in Alaska. Lots of surveys and tests have been done. It's trading around .50/share right now but in about a month or two is when big news should hit. How high it goes will depend on when they sell the claim or if they partner with someone to develop it. Feel like it go anywhere from $3 to 30+ a share. Long shot is 33.81/share since that would put me at a major milestone.

Yeah....if I've learned anything...it's the fact that I don't know much at all.

Most of my success has been dumb luck to put it mildly.

Well, if the 'rule', even though good, says 8 weeks, the money will be doing this at 7 weeks, & you be out of luck!
