I'm rooting for Germany in this game, since my boyfriend's family is from there. I'll root for Ukraine in the next game since I have family from both countries but Ukraine isn't the favorite to win.

I have never seen the end of a tied soccer game...do they extend time before going to the shootout or ?

I don't care all too much really. This is my first year actually even knowing how soccer works. I've played soccer but never followed it on tv. I just like to root for the underdog when I don't actually have a team I'm really interested in.

They will play the entire 30 mins of overtime. Two 15 min halves. If they are still tied, they go into penalty kicks.

I think argentina was playing extremely well in the first 60 mintues. But they started to get a bit shaky and i KNEW germany would take advantage of it. I was telling my dad, watch germany will score, and within 2 minutes they did. I am slightly rooting for argentina over germany, but it has been a good game, and thats all that matters.

My nerves are already starting up thinking about italy's game next.

Yes the same amount of players. They have 5 shots each. But it all depends on who misses/scores. It can end after 3 if the other team misses. If they score equal amount, they keep going. One player after another but thats extremely rare

Germany could win this if they go into Pk. Argentina's starting goalie got injured, so right now they are using their backup goalie. He may not be as good as the starter

I don't know if PK's should decide a game of this magnitude...they should just come back in a couple days to keep playing until somebody scores a goal.

Ya germany goalie was good. He guessed correct. Thats what PK is all about. Its a game 50/50. Skill isnt really involved, its more guessing and the placement of the ball.
