Good to know. The Meukow VS is just "OK", IMO.

The Pierre Ferrand 1er Cru De Cognac is pretty hard to beat for the price, again, IMO.

Use water that was already frozen then thawed. At least that is what the documentary on ice sculptures was saying, don't think I've ever tried it to see if it is true.

Put the ice mold inside a small cooler then put the whole thing in the freezer.

Use filtered water, don't bother boiling it.

If I'm drinking at home, I'm not too fussed about clear ice - that's more presentation than anything else.

Easier to get clear cubes. The fogginess is usually from the way the ice freezes and not necessarily impurities in the water. The easiest way is to fill a cooler 2/3 with water and freeze. When the big block comes out the top will be foggy and the bottom slower frozen part will be clear. Just cut up into cubes yourself from the clear part.

I don't really use ice in anything except for mixed drinks, which are almost always for guests, so the clear is a fun conversation point for just a little extra work. I already have a deep freezer which makes it much easier.

Over the last few weeks I have been savouring these beauties. The 27yo Panamanian is to die for! The Trinidadian smokey scotch barrel is pretty awesome too.

Now those are some beauties! I would love to try some of those and can't say I have ever seen any of those single cask offerings around me.

I was coming home from a sunday drive when I stopped at a bottle shop on the far side of town when I found these four for sale. I bought the cheapest two, which were pretty good. I went back the following weekend and bought the other two, which were the two I named in my original post. They were all 2019 releases. Since then I have found a 2018 Swedish whiskey finished release which is pretty awsesome too.

Which MWND is that? Just scored an Act 8, Scene 4 from my local shop. Still have an Act 7, Scene 2 from last year that I haven't opened, yet.

How is that 4R Antique holding up after all these years?

Willet Master Distiller 5 year Single barrel picked up two weeks ago at Willet.

So nice....

Not as hot as 130 proof would say...

Got very lucky to be there on the right day right day right time.

I passed on the 15 year at $740 a bottle....

the 4R held up much better than you would have thought, it was delicious!

The MWND is one of my favorites, that is the act 6, but I also have an act 5 and an act 7. Have not found my way to an act 8 yet though...

woke up at 0500 to queue up at sagamore distillery for 1 of only 594 “penny’s proof” special bottlings. cost is exactly one penny for 3 200ml bottles — per their marketing: one to sip, one to save, and one to share.

haven’t cracked it open yet but I generally like all of sagamore’s offerings.

Well, it wasn't really SIPPIN, per se. My brother invited everyone over to my house for tacos. He brought fixins for margaritas. He went to Trader Joes and got their tequila (didn't know they even had one) plus some limeade and tart cherry juice. I contributed ice and triple sec. My wife had a single, and my other brother's gf had a single. We drank the rest of the bottle, then had a few sniffs of Tres Generaciones anejo.

I had a major app launch this morning at 0700. Maybe that wasn't the greatest idea to make tacos. . .
