I am want the DayDate 40 so bad. That presidential band is just to die for in yellow gold. Just no way I can afford it.

Yellow gold rolex bands are too soft for daily wear, unfortunately. Even the white gold ones are borderline. The last thing you want is for your YG band to start stretching (which they do), which requires a $$$$ drill and re-fill.

I have seen 5yr old SS Daytonas (16520) that had stretch so bad the bracelet actually came apart. Customer liked it completely loose and wore it daily in a restaurant (lots of hand movement vs a desk job). Extreme example but the gold bracelets can be worn for years without stretch. Think about a lot of the DayDate's you see on eBay with decent amounts of stretch have probably never been rebuilt and they are @30 yrs old. |

Going on vacation to Vietnam - should I wear my 16600 SD or a more low key watch?

Call your insurance broker first to review your policy. If you're covered outside the US, sure, why not. If not, I wouldn't risk it.

I wish I knew why folks call that model the "President." The bracelet is the President, but the watch is a Day-Date.
Not picking on you; I just don't really know why that model has come to be called, by everyone except Rolex, using it's bracelet model. Interestingly, Ronald Reagan wore a Day-Date, but his had a Jubilee bracelet not the President bracelet. Ike wore a Datejust with a Jubilee bracelet. All the best. Edit: I sit corrected. Rolex did for a short time refer to one of their watches as a Rolex President: http://rolexblog.blogspot.com/2011/1...t-part-11.html .

I like to wear a SubM from time to time on a vintage leather strap.
Also a Tudor Black Bay if that counts. I hope to acquire a deep sea in the future and wear it on a NATO strap (I find steel bracelets pull hairs too often ) |

I absolutely love the look of those blue dialed TT Sub's. They're absolutely stunning. I just can't see myself wearing one. I'm not a gold guy, and they don't fit my personality
