New iPad is such a disappointment.
Bigger and heavier. Less battery life. Not even real siri, but knock-off siri. I want steve jobs back. Anyone else pre-ordered? I did mine earlier today.

I see what you are saying though. Zoom-in is the key to tell the difference between high/low resolutions. By the way, I would NOT upgrade to iPad 3 if I had iPad 2. No way in hell. I have iPhone 4, will never pay for iPhone 4S.

I consider this upgrade similar to upgrading a iPhone 3GS to an iPhone 4. Yeah, the processor isn't much of an upgrade, but it's going from normal to retina display, which is a huge jump.

Fuckin Apple fanboys... My Asus Transformer Prime has 2 more cores, higher res camera, better battery life, $100 cheaper, and I've had it for months.

Won't do it, my iPad 2 is good enough.
However, I have the iPhone 4 and do want to get a 4s, only to get on the "s" rotation of phones I guess. It's just irritating that when I get a new iPhone, they come out with the "s" version not too much later that seems like it's better. The "s" rotation historically has the better stuff of that phone generation or whatever, so I think it's better to be on the "s" rotation of phones rather than the regular one. I guess in the long-run it doesn't really matter.

Read the rest of the post.
Besides, I'm good for an upgrade now.

I have the iPad2 and preordered the new version. My only complaints about the current version were the connectivity speed (3G) and the screen, though very vibrant, was not as clear as the retina on the new version or either iphone 4. Without the 4G, I would not have upgraded. I have the iphone 4S and found it to be a worthy upgrade as it is definitely faster, doesn't have the home button issues of the 4, and has a much better camera (the biggest selling point for me). I will skip the next version of the ipad as this newest iteration fulfills all of my needs.

Same here, I never found a use for it. Everytime I am in a place that even has 4G there is free wifi to be found.

not to mention Apple charges $129 extra for 4G + monthly data/service charge. Fuck that. Fuck Apple.

the new iPad is a decent upgrade but not enough for me to buy since I have an iPad 2 and does everything I need perfectly. Retina display is cool but I'll just wait till next years iPad to upgrade, then I can give my current one to a family member |

If you commute on a train to work everyday, 4G is very necessary. I have wifi coverage the entire way from my cable provider, however it's even slower than 3G. Once I arrive at the office, it's wifi all the way but the train ride to and fro is a different story.

Probably a better plan than having the 4 and getting the 4s. I can probably wait a while longer, I have no real issues with my 4.

Technically the screen on the iPad "3" has a higher res than all the current HDTVs on the market right now. My biggest complaint with the iPad1 is the screen.
As for the Android alternatives, there are very few tablet-specific apps out there that are more than just a stretched version of the phone apps. The iPad has over 200,000 apps specifically for it that isn't just a stretched phone app. Apps even the iPhone 4S cannot run because of its small size. I have an Android tablet as well as my iPad1 (I'm a techie), and the apps on the iPad are so much better than their Android versions. Just like the examples mentioned in the keynote yesterday. Not to mention, I really like Apple's app security and review process, even though they have been slacking a bit lately. Its still better than the Android Market, which no one polices. |
