???? Not starting anything.... Just curious if you have run your car at a dragstrip.

I know what my car can do and usually what most other cars can do. I'm not going to take my 325i up against a WRX STI or Lancer Evo, but I would with my 335i to give it a fun run. Once I get it tuned I'll know what the fronts of those cars look like from my rear view mirror.

People always want to have the best, and they'll always lie to make it seem like it. You just have to let these people live in their own little worlds because you really won't change them by calling them on it. I guess you could say you can't teach an old dog new tricks.

I thought that you were kidding!?!? What does that have to do with meeting up with people on the street?? I doubt that any of them have timeslips either. I thought that this was a joke on this thread. This isn't a drag race thread.

Coming from the Evo community I can agree that there are quite few of them who have a god complex about their car and have nothing to back it up.

However, (getting ready to be really unpopular) there is probably a larger percentage of them who actually have the HP to back it up then there seems to be in the BMW community. There seem to be just as many 335i owner who feel that because they've got twin turbos and a tune their car is unbeatable.

Lets be honest until there is either a real turbo upgrade and supporting fuel mods or somebody decides to gut their car the 335i isn't unbelievably fast. Don't get me wrong it's pretty damn quick but, there are a lot of faster cars on the road.

The thread brings up an interesting thing, people mis-perceive how fast their cars are. Very few have actually run it at a race track.

So people have no clue how idiotic they are if they claim they have a 9 second car.

Just curious if the OP has taken his car to the track. He had a data point of 0-60 in 4.5 and 1/4 mile in 12.6 -13.0. So as I future 335xi owner, I am interested in his 60 foot times, 1/4 mile and trapspeed.....these numbers really show how fast a car is.

I haven't had time to go to the track yet, but I can tell you that I've beat several cars which you and everyone else can get the performance numbers on (and they're considered somewhat fast cars); these include a Chrysler 300C SRT-8, a Porsche Boxter S, a Porsche 911, a modded Subie WRX STi, an Infiniti G35, and now a modded Pontiac GTO 6.0. Although they may not be 100% accurate, my Beltronics Vector FX1 timer numbers are most likely very close to track; I know I can do better as seen from other PROcede 335i drivers getting even better track timeslip numbers...~ 12.6-12.8 sec. 1/4 mi. @ ~ 109+mph.

btw -- my local track is at sea level, and I just found out today that they're redoing the track, which will reopen in Sept.; my brother and I are planning on going in the fall.

My best 60ft. time as shown on my Vector FX1 timer was 1.85 sec., and from my pic above, you can see my 1/4 mi. trap was 108.3mph. Actual 1/4 mi. timeslips from other PROcede 335i's have been showing similar and better trap speeds.

Yes, I agree, but I thought that even a stock Pontiac GTO 6.0 (with the same 'Vette engine) was one of them; apparently not. And this guy had a crazy sick exhaust that must have given him an extra 10-20HP, and he still couldn't catch up and pull on me.

Cool - that's a fast 60 foot time. Let us know how the track treats your car.

Like I said, I will probably go later this fall, but don't worry, I let everyone know.

And how do you know that crazy sick exhaust didn't kill his torque? Or maybe he had a crazy sick intake that was sucking hot air or pissing off the MAF sensor costing him power? Or maybe he just flat couldn't drive?

Besides that a stock GTO really isn't that quick. They are really heavy. It has a stock quarter mile time of @13 seconds according to GM.

Most people who mod cars have no idea what they are doing. They just buy crap and bolt and it on. Then they add up the advertised power gain from each piece which is usually a BS number anyway to arrive at their new power level.

If I had a dollar for every time I read a blow off valve or intake thread (both of which cost power for the most part on Evo) on the Evo forum I would have bought an M5 instead of a 335.

Oh, and BTW racing on street is dumb. Take it to the track. It might be a bit of a blow to the ego when you see "lesser" cars running considerably faster times than you but, it will give you a better perspective as to what fast actually is.

You're right, they aren't as quick as people think. It has the LS2 in it but it's way too heavy. 0-60 times are only in the 4.7-4.8 range but they get faster as the race gets longer and the 400HP has a chance to start really working.

But, with some well planned out mods they can be stupid fast. A guy I work with has one of the 5.7 liter cars. It's running mid 10's as a full interior daily driver. Grant it it's blown and has a serious amount of head work done but it's fast enough to be pretty damn scary on the road.

I don't doubt that for a second. You can have some serious upgrade fun with both the LS1 and LS2. Trust me I know.

Well, with a statement like that he was obviously a tool but, to assume that because he couldn't beat you that a lightly modded GTO couldn't is probably a mistake. As I said above a lot of people screw their cars up when they start modding.

Maybe he ran the 1/8th mile in 9 seconds and thought it was a 1/4?

Just looked it up; C&D said the GTO 6.0 weighs 3,787 lbs., which is ~ 200 lbs. heavier than the 335i Coupe. They got 4.8 sec. 0-60mph and 13.3 sec. @ 107mph 1/4 mi. with the GTO 6.0...not too bad. So, I guess this means that a stock 335i is about even with the GTO and a PROcede 335i is a little faster than the GTO. Now I know why I stayed about 1 CL ahead of this guy and he couldn't pull on me.
