As for motorcycles, you can get the device to mount on it and it will make the motorcycle 'seen' by the current loop underground.

The flashing of the lights and honking of the horn (that is just stupid, how would it know what direction it came from... plus how would it be distict form other traffic, all horns sound different) does not change anything.

On my old GTI there was one of the headlight beams that was a bit higher than the other and this would happen often. I kept asking myself "why are people flashing their dang high beams at me?" I think people thought I still had my high beams on when in reality the stray beam was shooting them in the face, not the high beams. Maybe you were parked on a slight upward incline which made it appear to him that your high beams were on?

If you hold down the floor you're trying to reach and hold down the close elevator button, on some elevators, it will override and bypass all stops until you get to your destination.

by: Don Darroch and Robert S. Harding, 1990

Biography

Charles Adler, Jr. (1899-1980), a professional engineer and inventor was a life-long resident of Baltimore, Maryland. He began his career as an inventor at 14, receiving a patent on an electric automotive brake. After attending Johns Hopkins University, he served briefly in the Army during World War I and worked at several jobs before being associated in 1919 with the Maryland and Pennsylvania Railroad, where he developed a series of safety devices. In 1928 he developed and installed in Baltimore the first traffic-actuated (by the sound of a car horn) signal light. In 1937 he became a consultant to the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, continuing to invent safety and signal devices for automobiles, trains and aircraft. He was granted over 60 U.S. patents for devices in general use and donated 10 aircraft device patents to the U.S. Government. He was a licensed pilot and a member of numerous professional engineering societies. In 1953-1959 Adler served on the Maryland State Aviation Commission; he was a member of the Maryland Traffic Safety Commission from 1952 until his death.
