airlines did that to themselves though. it takes forever to board the plane these days because everyone is in a rush to get all their carryons on before bin space is gone. with all these stupid bag fees, people are bringing the most amount of carryons as possible. THAT annoys me, too.
another thing, terminal etiquette...keep your kids on a leash PLEASE! not just the terminal, but anywhere. nothing says bad parenting more than your kids running in circles around the gate area. i try to stay in any of the airport lounges as long as possible, but if i have a short connection and have to sit at the gate, i don't want to be bothered by your little ritilin junkie running into me because he/she is playing tag with their brother/sister/friend. |

i agree, airports are tricky and sometimes can be dangerous....i don't want to see a kid being hit by a courtesy golf carts....and what if they accidently opened a security door to the airfield and set off the alarm....with the security nowadays....it would've evacuate the entire terminal.....

I fucking hate when the same people keep getting up to go the washroom... over and over again... especially when you are in the aisle seat and they are sitting next to you!

or just fear of flying....some people do....and when they nervous....they tend to pee more.... -------------------------- oh...i just hate an "oversized" person sitting at aisle seat..... happened to me when i flew from LAX-NRT-SIN on SQ11....myself and gf can only get a window seat and middle on the 744....then a BIG lady was sitting in the aisle seat.... and she only went to the restroom only ONCE during the 13 hours from LAX-SIN....

passengers aren't exempt from my air travel hatred either. i HATE HATE HATE annoying flight attendants. i was on a US airways commuter flight recently (old america west airlines) and one flight attendant was flaming gay and made sure everyone knew it, and the other flight attendant was the biggest airhead ever. her safety speech lasted a good 20 minutes, mostly useless rambling. as a pilot myself, having to make a 45 degree turn to short final with a nasty crosswind in a million pound machine is like getting an 18-wheeler into a parking garage. |

Other gripes are: 1. people that hold up the EZ/self check-in machines because they can't follow the on-screen prompts or ask for help. Other people checking in are usually happy to help the understaffed airline workers. 3. people not paying attention for the next available ticket/check-in agent or EZ/self check-in machine. 3. people that unnecessarily hold up the security checks (liquids, not emptying their pockets, etc...) 4. people that secretly fight you for armrest dominance. 5. sick people that don't know how to cover their mouths. Just drug yourself up so you sleep the whole flight and don't get everyone else on the plane sick. 6. the occasional person that asks if I'll switch seats with them.......when they're in economy and I'm in economy plus or better.....or they're by the bathroom. reminds me of the first time i ever flew first class. i was young and with my parents and thought i was soooo cool. until plane had a problem, had to switch planes, no seat in 1st class, and i ended up in the LAST row of the plane, right by the bathroom, sitting next to two HUGE fat best friends who laughed soooo loudly the whole time.

All short people (aka - anyone shorter than me) that thinks they need to sit in the bulkhead or emergency exit seats. Fortunately, I've got my system for getting those seats down to a science.

i used to be a management consultant, where 100% travel is the rule. i soon grew to hate VBITs (Vacation Bound Infrequent Travellers) who manage to clog up most major hub airports.

Crying kids is my biggest peeve. We were coming back from London a few years ago and a girl in our section (she had to be 12 or 13yo) screeched like her feet were in the fire from takeoff until they turned off the seatbelt sign. Then when it came back on as we neared Chicago, she started again and screeched until we were on the ground. I'm talking hysterical screaming and crying. She had to have been a mad headcase, but her parents should have given her a few 'Ludes before the flight.
My second most hated thing is sitting on the tarmac for extended lengths of time. Especially in a small commuter plane. Oh yeah, and people who just have to recline the seat all the way back the second the wheels leave the ground. On small planes that usually puts the person's head within inches of my face and precludes me from using the tray or even reading a book. I'm 6'3", so I need all the space I can get. I don't mind it on larger planes and longer flights, but who really needs to sleep on a 45 minute flight?

Morbidly obese people are worth mentioning again: GAH! Seriously, do we need a sample seat in the terminal to size people like a damn carry-on? I wish more flight attendants had the balls to charge these idiots for an extra seat.
Also, the eagerness to board and get off the plane is annoying. Why rush to board (besides to win the overhead bin) ? We're all getting there at the same time. And once there, the main cabin door doesn't open faster just because everyone's jockeying to get out. Sheesh, just have patience and everything goes more smoothly. Kudos to the poster about dressing nicely. It's harder now with security basically having you remove jackets, watches, shoes, etc. But seriously, showing up in pajamas is too relaxed. Put all your accessories into your bag for security and wear a nice pair of slip-off shoes. Who wants to be stuck for hours with a slob? I'd take it easy wearing perfume/cologne. Too much or something too exotic would bother a lot of people. |
