A lot of information. Unfortunately we don't have any great details on: Total time production to delivery.

That is weird. Makes you wonder if the ones that went through (like mine) didn't have issues.....or were they missed. And the ones stuck in limbo....was it because there is an issue, or because they simply stopped the line at that particular moment in time. I know actual production of my vehicle started before Todd's. As in earlier in the week. But they were both week 36 production. So what gives?

They closed the factory from Thursday (9/12) to the following Tuesday. The official news blurb was because of "decreased demand in China" but that doesn't hold water. How is pausing production for 5 days (or 7500 cars) going to somehow right the financials of a sluggish Chinese market? More likely, a "Omg, which of these IBS parts are good or bad? Which vehicles are affected? Did we stop building with these?" type-moment and a need to regroup and stop the flat spin of the BMW aircraft known as Dingolfing before it pancaked into an open field and fire balled. From my research and reading, their ability to get nearly any vehicle back on track after it hits a Quality Control snag is damn near abysmal. One guy's car sat in QC for 9.5 weeks because they couldn't get a B&O stereo system for it. Do you mean to tell me that in nearly 10 weeks, not one other vehicle of that model was built with a B&O system? Or did a thousand get build with them, and because it's in quality check, it gets delayed at getting addressed last? I think their follow-through and transparency is so poor, that Audi or Mercedes could literally do a marketing campaign (assuming they have their shit together) under the pretense that "if you order a vehicle from us, we'll provide you with real transparency", upon any delay. I'd almost guarantee that if that were to happen, BMW would have no choice but to sing like a canary in these situations, as it would be damn near impossible to continue hide behind some immutable wall of obfuscation and secrecy, with the poor souls in their Customer Service department dodging the incoming verbal bullets from annoyed consumers. |

lol, is been a decade. In comparison to some of the other public spectacle we’ve endured since then, the general public likely has amnesia by now. 😂

The IBS recall has been sorted by this point (as in they weren't producing cars with it) and the Steering Spindle recall only goes up to cars produced on September 4th. When I check a VIN decoder my official production date IS September 4th and my car went from 150 on the first day of WK36 (September 2nd). I have a sneaky feeling your car might have a production date of September 5th onwards, I know you had to go via your broker for updates, but might be worth checking a VIN decoder or something. The Steering recall was only announced on September 18th, the very day my car arrived at the dealership, so right up until that point my car was on the perfect track. If it had arrived a day earlier and I could have picked it up (I was on vacation so it is a what if...) I would be driving it right now just with an open recall on it.... |

The word on this forum was that IBS cars only stopped being produced about circa mid August and by this point the Spindle issue was on the production line, affecting cars from end of July to September 4th. |

Here is my list FWIW. Car was a swap with another dealer and was already in production. Was in QC for 3+ weeks and then went to Bremerhaven in 2 days where it waited for 2 weeks. Dealer has said there are no recalls or stop sales. No special order items. But DAP, Premium, BW sound. Going to be wife's car replaced MB E wagon. Good luck to everyone being delayed.

AHHH I don't know, I want to believe that there is some sort of pattern to it...
But as it stands I am making it up - I have nothing better to do than speculate on the internet with my fellow sufferers |

Hell, for all I know they could simply be throwing jello against the wall and seeing what sticks to determine which vehicle gets remediated next. Last edited by ToddRGuy; 10-22-2024 at 02:21 PM.. |
