I'm actually in Vegas now with my buddy, we were here when the announcement was made. I told my wife about it and she really wants to come down to see it. The one observation I'll make is that F1 cars doing 300KMH down Las Vegas Blvd might be a problem. The road is in terrible condition so I'm not sure how that will be addressed. Still a very kool event, I can't wait.

Any city in Canada would take about 5 years of planning before they could repave that much road.

While Liberty is spending big bucks bringing F1 to Las Vegas, they say they want an affordable grand prix..."Liberty recognizes the need to include more casual fans that don’t want to spend thousands of dollars on spectating a race weekend."
They plan to spend 9 figures on the 39 acres they bought (for $240m) and declare that “Las Vegas is the new home of Formula 1 in North America.”

Iconic Ceasars Palace rotunda will be demolished to make way for the Las Vegas GP ... "The 5,006-square-foot Roman-themed structure, which is visible from the Strip, has been welcoming guests for decades when they pull into the historic casino. The demolition — slated to cost $157,500 — will also remove the surrounding landscaping, pillars, statues, and obelisk."

3,500 Euro's for the Vegas race at the Max Verstappen grandstand .

But you can get the biggest Vegas package (3 days)
-The 3 practices with a visit in the Red Bull box
-The qualification
-The race

And all that , you can get for 100,000 Euro's !

I don't have a problem with this, it's their event and places along the track were planning on making max profits off of it, hoping to not pay anything. No chance you were going to sit at a restaurant/bar for 3 hours with a great view and get away with not paying anything.

If I went to Vegas during the race and didn't buy a ticket I would expect I wouldn't be able to see the race live. It's what happens when you don't buy a ticket.

There's an outside concert venue in our downtown, they put up a wall around it so the neighbors can't see the concerts for free.

How are they gonna block the views of those 40+ story hotels? Put a canopy over the track or something?

From the article
Quote:
If clubs and restaurants refuse to pony up, sales reps for F1 — owned by billionaire John Malone’s Liberty Media — have warned that obstructions like barricades, stands and light stanchions could end up ruining the race for their customers, according to a source.

"Las Vegas F1 hotel rates slashed by 83% in a bid to fill empty beds."
"Unlike other rounds of the 2023 Formula 1 World Championship, the Las Vegas Grand Prix is far from a sell out. And that’s having a big effect on hotel prices along the Strip."

It's Vegas, what more can you say. No cheap dollar race day for traditional fans with sarnies and a thermos of hot tea there.

The absolute circus that they turn all of the US GP's into is pretty annoying. Miami with their fake marina... come on.

My buddies and I fly to foreign countries to see F1 races. It's way cheaper and a much more authentic experience, imo. A few good friends went to Baku this year and absolutely loved it.

Be also prepared to brave possible chilly temps.

I used winter gloves for my cycling today though it's difficult to imagine it gets that cold in Las Vegas, at least it will keep those car brakes cooler.
If the race was held on the same date last year, race start temps would have been 40f(4c).

It starts getting cold in late November in Vegas, especially at night.

I hope everyone attending the race bring their winter jackets.
