Range is terrible compared to Tesla. May be a good car, but range is a killer out of the gate.

From what I heard sales are absolutely dismal, like they've only moved a few hundred of them dismal. That's probably why there's been very aggressive advertising/PR for this car recently.

Aside from the dorky styling the car seems totally fine. If it sat low like a proper sedan it could look nicer, but Volvo knows that higher seating position is what the masses want.

I understand the logic behind creating the "Polestar" brand, but it doesn't seem to be paying off so far. If these cars were badged as Volvos they'd likely have greater awareness to the public.

I don’t think it’s the badge, but more like the car was too expensive for what it offered. The only issue I have with it now is that their tech pack should really be standard. If they had that, I’m picking one up for Christmas….or whenever the shortages clear.

Saw 2 this morning at local Cars and coffee…man they’re ugly looking thing. Body lines don’t flow at all and being $50k+

I don’t understand the logic behind it. It’s going to be such a small niche market for the design and especially the price tag. Sure Volvo enthusiasts might take a look but what’s percentage of them out there?

With the dual motor this thing easily hit $55k+. Sure there's the federal tax hand out but even then it is expensive relative to 3-series, Model 3, A4, C-class, etc. Plus something about the car looks appliancey.

Looks like our Model 3 is scheduled to arrive this week (finally). While the Polestar was good, I didn't find myself wanting to drive it again. Glad we decided to wait it out. Looking back, the only memorable thing about this car was its acceleration, although it wasn't the same "in your face" sudden boost from other EV's I've driven. For 60K, it really had nothing to offer over the 20K cheaper Tesla.

It will be an addition/replacement for our beloved F34. Still seems to be the best EV experience overall as of right now.

There's a single location for Electrify America near me, inside a Pavillions parking lot. All 8 of them always occupied by Fiat 500e's and Taycans. The ease of mind knowing I can take the Tesla anywhere and always have a Supercharger nearby is unbeatable. Although I remember reading that Tesla is opening Supercharger access to other EV's later this year. Wonder how that will go.

There is a Polestar 2 on display at the Scottsdale Fashion Square (an upscale mall with a Lucid design studio, a Tesla store and a Solo display as well) by the food court.

I stopped by one day and asked the Polestar rep what kind of leather was on the seats. He gave me a helpless look. They have not put anyone trained to answer questions by the car.

Polestar is getting a 16% hp bump via OTA update. That’s like a Stage 1 flash tune for BMW. However, this update will cost you $1,130. 472 hp after the update will definitely bring this rather unpopular car closer to the acceleration levels of Model 3 Performance. Is this enough to make people choose this over Tesla? Probably not.

Saw another yesterday. I quite like it. Don’t know why it’s unpopular.

If they knocked 10K off the price, it would sell a lot better...

It is now same price as Model 3P but much better, more attractive interior and many common features that Tesla simply does not have. Tesla is quicker, has higher range and more “high tech”, although the latter argument is debatable.

300 miles range really needs to be the floor if you want to charge 40K+ for a new EV. In order to get people into EVs no one is going to want to sacrifice range/performance for better fit and finish. The comparison to the model 3 pretty much proves that. Granted, this is 2-3 year old tech at this point...

I’m not so sure I’d use the language no one. Lots of “commutes” and usage around the world has changed due to a larger wfh culture and at that, commutes aren’t much over 300 miles spread amongst a non-Fri schedule. The luxury vehicle community purchases those vehicles for both performance and build quality and if they don’t see either they complain heavily. I wage a guess it’s a battle of first to market MORE than a war of range.

You're right. I should have specified no Americans haha. First to market is over. Tesla won. From here on out it should all be about delivering the best QUALITY product that also meets consumers needs.
