I didn't need to join a frat to hit on the Sorority girls, took care of that membership free. I'm marrying a Chi Omega. I also wasn't into paying a membership to get friends either, no offense.

Im sure you could figure this out...

Phi Delta Theta from OU

Didn't have a 3 series, but I had a Lexus IS and a Nissan Z while I was there. There were several brothers who had assorted 3s though.

Dude, the paying for your friends arguement is tired and played out. It is an arguement used to justify yourself NOT being in a fraternity...which if you were really secure about your choice you would not need justification.

You pay your dues for Rent, Parties, and other Events. Think about it...if you have roommates, do they get to live there for free? What about when you go to a party...do you expect to get in for free? Im sure you have to pay for food as well.

Trust me when I say that there are people who "pay" to be in a house, and have no friends. Yes, there are those (you being one of them) who feel like they didn't "need" a fraternity to have a good time, and they are totally 100% correct. No one needs to be in a fraternity, but it is a great way to make friends and form connections for later in life, as well as providing an easier entry into the social aspects of particular universities.

No one gave you a problem for not being greek, so why do you feel the need to cause a problem for those of us who were?

+1, and I don't like having to like people just because they are my 'brothers' through monetary lines.

95% of the frat boys I know are spoiled brats and have yet to mature.

Just a dumb question...but how would you feel if I said that 95% of the military personnel that I have met are too stupid to tie their own shoes and will screw anything that walks...or crawls?

Im sure you would be enraged, because you are in the qualified group. If you have a problem with guys in fraternities...why did you feel the need to click on this thread?

"+1, and I don't like having to like people just because they are my 'brothers' through monetary lines." - Follow my logic here...you joined this online community because you purchased a certain type of automobile (for those who didn't, you are here because you want to be...my point still stands) and desired to fraternize with people who made the same purchase (Or desire to...). How is that so different from "paying for your friends".

Also...have you ever paid a cover charge at a club or bar? Same idea, you pay to get in and socialize.

No worries. If I ever make it out that way I'll have Tyler point you out and you'll have a scheduled blow to the balls and a curb stomping.

Making fun of a fraternity is fine, moving onto the wife is not. Dick head

Oh and wouldn't you think a lot of girls think frat boys are nothing but dogs with the little pink thing hanging out?

You're making a generalization as well. People expect to pay to get into some bars and clubs. Yet all your dues don't just go towards the house, food and parties. If they did fraternities and sororities wouldn't be big businesses.

There's 2 sides to the fence here. I just see both.

My best friend is a Sig Nu and he even says there are aspects that aren't great. Such as paying the dues and the rush process. No matter how fun it is, you still HAVE to rush guys you don't like, don't want, etc.

I'm not saying frats are all bad. But there also not all great.

Ok...fair enough.

Generalizations are EXACTLY my point, so we agree on that.

And sorry about the guy who insulted the wife...that was uncalled for, and probably most of the reason that people lump all "frat" guys into one category.

And I personally don't know where he gets his info, as most of my brothers ended up engaged or married to a sorority girl?

Well, hello then neighbor. (Technically that was the Pi Phis, but fraternity neighbor still)

(This reply isn't specifically to you, but to everyone who posts crap like this)

Why is it whenever there is a topic about fraternities, there has to be the group that comes in and explains how they are bad. We don't fucking care. If you don't like it, shut up, don't click the topic, and move on.

For those of us who CAN pass math class, living in the fraternity house usually is extremely comparable, cost-wise, as living in the dorms. So you'd say that living in the dorms, or renting an apartment, those are paying for friends too then, right?

Please save us the lesson on how we wasted our money and how you're too good for fraternities. We're big kids, hell, most of us aren't even there now. You don't still need to try to prove yourself.

we dont have fraternities in Canada (as far as I know)
but I visitted my cousing up in USC and we went to a frat party

nice guys over all
there was on douche bag.. and I was gonna pick a fight with him (it's ok.. all the frat guys had my back)

but the houses / parties are nothing like in the movies (we went to a few frat parties)
the girls were fine for the most part.. some were total trash though..

so how exactly do they initiate you.. if u don't get in, do u get your money back?

Fraternities are, generally, social clubs. Organized parties. Relatively safe environments (on campus - less drinking and driving, everyone looks out for each other).

Making generalizations about the people who belong to them is ridiculous.
